Cyclists wearing helmets, high vis jackets and lights

I'd get one of those if it wasn't a complicated kit and was a bit more sophisticated than a great big PCB stuck to the spoke.

I reckon you could make a lofi version with a rotating disk with direct contact to switch LEDs on and off.

Seriously kinky stuff

I saw that in real life last week! (hark at me) The best thing about it is that its not the original - which was lost, its a remake of the original and therefore 'even more artistic'. :D

Is it a coincidence that most pavement cyclists are young men, seemingly doing it to demonstrate how hard they are?
Is that a fact or have you pulled that out of your arse?

Most of the pavement cyclists I've seen are young women but if you have some sort of statistic to back up your statement then fair enough!

Most of the pavement cyclists round this way seem to be male. To generalise grossly though, the young blokes tend to be more considerate, slowing down or stopping for vulnerable pedestrians such as the elderly, mums with toddlers etc. The ones that zoom past are usually the middle-age life-crisis dicks in suits. Which results in my girlfriend screaming "CUNT!" at them whilst I cover her 3yr-old's ears. :D

'course it's not a fact, whatever that is, this is an internet forum! It's an observation, intended to increment the discussion and give cause for you or Corax to say that you've observed something different.

I'll stick with it though, most pavement cyclists I see in Brixton or up west are young and male.

I'd say as a genralisation most cyclists are male...
Be interesting to do a survey one month.. pick one particular street & every day check all of the cyclists gender over the course of a month... then do a poll thingy & then have a pie chart break down.

well, by way of further observation, on the short journey I just did I counted 7 pavement cyclists. Of the 6 I was close enough to see, all were male, all were young-ish.

One had a toddler on his bike and is thus exempt, one had full hi-vis and lights, one had one light. I saw no accidents.

you can draw your own pie chart if it amuses you :)

I sometimes cycle on the pavement round here sometimes if the traffic's acting murderous (they're all shit drivers where I live).

There are no pedestrians: everyone's too busy saving the planet by driving around in their air conditioned cars. :(

I don't think it's the gender/age thing people took issue with but your percieved reasons for them cycling on the pavement !

West Country ITV teletext today:- Cyclists who ride on the pavement in Taunton face on the spot fines of £30 fines enforced by PCSOs.

Well if I could be arsed to take issue with what you say then it would be with your perception of the pavement cyclists motivation for being a pavement cyclist .

Arf. What exactly do the plastic coppers do when you ignore them and cycle off?
