You'd just as legitimately say that Women cyclists are more likely to be killed because they obey red lights in an unsafe manner.
When approaching a lorry at red, I don't wait on its left hand side, I wait behind it. If a lorry pulls up alongside me at red, I nose forward and wait infront of it, making sure I make eye contact with the driver.

the only figures i know of: 7 london messengers dead in 20 years, all by left turning lorries. none jumping lights.

I think this fining is a great idea, I'm sick of fucking idiot cyclists thinking they can endanger other road users just because their choice of transport allows for piss taking.
Yeah, I've seen that video before. No, they weren't hit by cars, more by luck than anything else, but they almost hit some pedestrians. Near the end one of them is almost hit by a cab (whose driver is heard to shout "Wanker!" in another version of the video I've seen).bungle, here's some aggressive cyclists not being hit by cars
I wonder what the figures for cyclist jumping red lights and involved in, or causing, some kind of accident are?

I don't have any stats but I've nearly been hit by them twice (and once with a baby in a buggy) and my friend was hospitalised last year after being hit by a twat going through a red light.
I agree that some cyclists are bright enough to look out for pedestrians but unfortunately not all of them are. And TBH I think I have the right to cross the road safely on a green man.

personally i feel that if a bicyclist decides that it is their right to ignore red lights then fair doos... but they also lose the right to bitch about being squished under an artic or cut up by a car driver.

Maybe they should step out of their metal prisons once in a while... smell the air and feel the wind on their face
I suspect a lot of the people who get uptight about it are actually pedestrians.

dunno tbh its doesnt really arse me that much as we dont have many cyclists round here but the holier than thou attitude SOME cyclists portray on here does make them look like cunts tbh.

See, this is the main reason why I don't redjump. Am I crazy to think that if other road users have a better impression of cyclists, then we'd get more fair treatment? Or am I being hopelessly naive and should just fuck 'em?
