Cyclists in the city seem to have...

It wasn't aimed at your behaviour. I wasn't there and I don't know who was in the wrong. It was aimed at your generalisation that cyclists shouldn't shout at pedestrians.

One or two of these might help:

err yup. I'd expect those to be able to fill all the shops in london with stuff no worries.

:D :D

No, but they would be able to deliver a few hundred loaves to Tesco's.
Obviously cycles aren't suited to all of a big cities distribution needs but if they were used whenever they were appropriate then cities would be more pleasant, cleaner, safer and less congested.

...a death wish these days. In the past two weeks I have seen so many more cyclists jump red lights, ride out of some of the narrow pedestrian alleyways and do all manner of stupid things...Best one was a cyclist who rode out of a pedestrian side road on Ledenhall street and collided with two police officers walking along...what an idiot...another one jumped a red light by the Tokyo Marine building on Bishopsgate and collided with a cyclist that was jumping the red light from the left...I just stepped over them as I crossed the road and they sat there swearing at each other.

Is it me or do they think they own the roads, paths and everything else?

It's a shame that drivers who constantly try to mow me down at the pleican crossings in Waterloo are not putting their own lives in danger in doing so.

But of course bikes should indeed also obey the law.

scuse me??

Would you like to point out where I said that?

I was responding to maestros point about cities would be better if everyone cycled nonsense...

But you've been to the damit is a lot nicer with the majority not in cars innit?

Although London is a LOT bigger, so not sure how feasible it is!!

Interestingly, it was the "public" transport providers who killed-off an attempt to establish a fleet of commercial cycle rickshaws here. Forced the council to ban them being used commercially over all but a tiny & unprofitable part of the city & as part of upcoming pedestrianisation plans, they are sneaking-in a full cycle-ban over the entire central area this year or next.

So much for improving matters.

I cycle in most mornings. Like others on this thread, I get amazed at the recklessness of many cyclists:

- jumping lights at a junction: fucking ridiculous.
- not wearing a helmet, because it 'feels funny' having something on your head, or makes you hot: fucking ridiculous.
- not having lights, or hi-viz stuff: fucking ridiculous.

All the above are bad, because they really do endanger the life of the cyclist. Cycling on pavements is the worst though, because it endangers others. It's terrorism! it's shit being a pedestrian in london without idiots weaving in and out all over the place.

If you're on a bike you're going to be going at least 10mph. This is too fast for the pavement, so you should be on the road. Once you're on the road, you're a road user, and should follow the fucking law accordingly.

Deathwish is right!

tommers: don't tell me you buy that 9/11 bull. It wasn't a plane that crashed into the building, it was a bicycle that had veered off the road. It just reinforces the argument that if cyclists would keep on the road, everyone would be better off.

if you look really closely you can see ET on his flying bike.... :D

would you expect the items you need in the shops to be cycled in? might be a bit tricky biking 500 loaves of sliced white into tescos like.
London would be better without tescos too.

Here here...
I bloody loath Tescos.... They wont let me take my bike inside when i aint got me lock..... & there metro stores cost twice as much as summerfield ... Ahhh what ever Tesxo take the biscuit... They cause us cyclists to ride nutty...!

Dont try and patronise me with the book - I read that when I passed my driving test, did you? :)
You waited until you passed your test? That explains a lot then...

Most people read it before they start their lessons and during the period when they're taking lessons. (and of course I don't mean during the actual lesson)

everyone reads it before the test, you have to do a theory test before the actual driving test.

What, really?

Gosh, I did not know that.

How on earth did I not know that five years ago?

Damn driving instructor should have told me!
