Cycling Tips

Yes, I am finding it quite weird that you're really only using a few muscle groups. I'm getting home thinking that I really need to do some upper body exercise, but too knackered to do anything about it.

If a cycle lane is one-way, make sure you are cycling the right way down it. If you are cycling the wrong way, the cycle lane you want is probably on the other side of the road. If it is not convenient for you or you cannot be arsed to use the correct lane, give cyclists coming towards you a wide berth - this alleviates their temptation to twat you as you cycle past.

That reminds me - try to get other kinds of exercise - you'll look weird otherwise. I now have hams for legs and a flabby stomach and disco tits. Kinda disproportionate!

Why does cycling give you *ahem* disco tits?

cos it doesn't use the muscles in those areas. It's great cardio-vascular exerices, and gives you pins and buns of steel, but is pretty useless for toning the rest of the body. Actually, I guess shoulders and forearms get a bit of a workout.

Mountain biking would probably be better for the upper body

Localised areas of fat on the body are deposited through genetics and calories - men tend to collect it on stomach and bitch tits, ladies the arse and hips. If you have bitch tits and want to lose them you need to either drop your calorie intake or up your calorie expenditure - preferably do both at the same time.

Its a myth that localised excercise can remove localised fat. If you want to loose the belly you can cut down on booze and wheat based foods and excercise a lot - but be warned if you're a bloke it will be the last place on your body for fat to disappear.

There is a sort of 'cyclists belly' though - more to do with the stomach muscles being relaxed / not excercised for too long when riding. All they need is some stomach crunches to bring em back into line.
