Yep they are, I carry one along with a puncture repair kit. Never got around to carrying a spare inner tube tho I probably should.

I would definitely recommend it. It just saves a lot of time if you do get a puncture as you can simply swap the tubes (after checking the tyre for glass/thorns of course). You can leave repairing the punctured tube until you get home, then and use it as a spare.soulman said:Never got around to carrying a spare inner tube tho I probably should.
) and anyway I avoid fixing punctures when I'm out by carrying a whole backpack full of labelled tubes just in case

I have a spare inner tube at home but never a repair kit - a spare inner tube only costs £4 - would rather just replace it than mess about with a repair kit. I wouldn't know what to do anyway. I hate getting my hands dirty.

It says it's £60 a day, but when I did another course it was only £8... subsidised rates if you live or work in Southwark, Lambeth, and a few other boroughsCycle Maintenance
We run one-day courses at our central London location on a monthly basis. Our basic course is suitable for anybody wanting to learn how to keep a bike in good working order. Learn to fix a puncture or change your brake blocks. Our intermediate course focuses on more complex tasks, including wheel truing and re-greasing bearings.

I had a pair of waterproofs on yesterday, which I always carry with me in case, but I still got completely soaked. I don't want the high tech kind you have to keep respraying, just cheap waterproof vinyl or whatever it is. I can't seem to find them anywhere!
thanks
I normally take with me waterproofs, lights, and two locks.

I don't take cake riding with me anymore, it's too fatty and it gives me indigestion. So I just have something carby like toast before the ride, then something like a flapjack afterwardsmtbskalover said:er, nice pics and all herbs, but where is the cake?![]()
