Cybermen

Looks more like the shape of the early cybermen, especially in the head, I suppose that many watching the new series will either be too young, or nowhere near geeky enough to realise that :o

Will be interesting to see what sort of sound design they use for the cyberman voices. Personally, I prefer the artificial monotone of the early cybermen to the theatrical style of the later ones.

They look a bit mournful to me, mournful & menacing at the same time of course :)

So they should be. They used to be human, just like you and me

Every Cyberman is a sad tale in itself :(

I don't know if this is relavant but I'm sure in the last series there was a cyberman's head from 70's in that museum that had the dalek in it.

That suggest that these are differnt cybermen from the 70's Baker era that we all know and love. Unless the BBC have fucked up with continuity, although I doubt they would have so soon after 1st series.

Well we don't know how long the Cybermen were around for- these could be the Cybermen from a thousand years in the future.

I was always more scared of the cybermen than of the daleks.

probably because the daleks will just kill you but the cybermen might turn you into one of their own. a fate worse than death?

I read some places that they were killed off in the 29th century but in a book they were trading earthshock bombs with the sontarans in the 50th so who knows. Unless they are time travlling then there from the present because I read that mickey and roses mum were in the cyberman story. The BBC site tries to write the history of the cybermen but its really fucked up because of the lack of continuity between the shows on the series. The daleks one they did was quite good because they wrote a pre genesis of the daleks and a post genesis of the daleks one.

They look shit. The old Cybermen in their Jump Suits and DM's looked like thugs, menacing, as if they would give you a good kicking. These new ones just look so camp, overdesigned if anything, They don't look menacing at all.

I like the really, really old one - the first one. They look a bit crap, but strangely threatening, and they had this really creepy sing-song voice.

How menacing!;)

Thanks for the link. Hopefully the kids will like this one as much as I liked the old ones. I agree with most of the other criticisms tho- looks over done to me.

Will there be Cybermats?

They originally looked like this

They seemed so much more scary when the makers didn't try giving them comedy eyes etc. These were actually quite scary and menacing as I remember

But Daleks would turn you into Robomen, which would be pretty bad too, and look suspiciously like early Cybermen.
Wierd how organic beings that become machines still see a lot of value in making slaves out of inferior organic beings like humans and Ogrons, etc.. to perform menial tasks that you might think would be better performed by machines.
