CV help

since many resumes are submitted via email or the internet no one uses a cover letter anymore....

I had to write a covering letter. I had to write a prototype CV for a uni assignment, and it had to have a covering letter. It stuck in my throat a bit, because social work employers will not accept CV's these days, it all has to be application forms.

I haven't completed a paper application for ages, always apply for jobs online.

On the interest front, I mentioned opera, European travel and green issues.. happy to talk to prospective employers about standing in the elections.

With regards my summary, I think it reads rather well. I'll have to wait and see what my lecturer thinks..

If you are just filling out an online form then it obviously negates the need for the cover letter
which is what most are doing these days...

It's true that most public sector organisations (and any who have a genuine interest in equality issues, come to that!), ask for an application form rather than a CV, but, even then, a CV can really help you to fill in said application form :)

Oh, so we've come down from "no one" then, have we?

I disagree with you in any case. Personally, I don't know of any jobs in my sector that require the filling out of an online form. I suspect you are taking something applicable to your personal field of work and extrapolating it to the entire employment sector. The horror.

Exactly. In the one application form I've seen (NOT an online one, incidentally), the person filling it out simply cut and paste their CV into the section asking for their work experience. They then put what they would have put into a cover letter into the "why would you be right for this job?" section.

They got the interview.
