I think it's turned out alright actuallyDunno why I ever bothered going to a hairdresser.
once i let a friend cut me hair. never again. i looked like Moe from the Three Stooges for a month
now i only go to teh nice salons where the girls are good at cutting hair.
they have a new salon that opened up a year ago were all the hair stylists are topless. but i'm not paying $100 + "gratuity" for a haircut

Looks fine to me. Any bits that are wrong can be neatened up next time - just don't go overboard in 'neatening up.'
I sometimes cut my own hair, and sometimes my GF does it. Hairdressers don't seem to do it any better. It's worth using decent scissors, though (you can get OK hairdressing scissors from Boots), to avoid split ends (not such a bit deal on a fringe you'll be trimming regularly).

Anyway, my hair is naturally thick and curly, so um maybe its best not to piss around with it. Its temperamental

My gf cuts her own and has been cutting mine too for about 2-3 years now.Bought some clippers and some hairdressers scissors and never looked back really..Sometimes I have a friend who also has a long mohawk too and he likes cutting hair,so when he does it he does a really good job on mine.

I recently cut my own hair again, in a slightly layered bob around the level of my ears. It's level. Ask quimcunx if you don't believe me!
My GF now cuts her own hair too, though I used to do hers myself when it was pretty short at the back (shaved with graduations). Now it's very long and also layered, done by twisting your hair up above your head before you cut it.
Hairdressers depend on people who just like having their hair done by a hairdresser.

My hair is exceptionally curly, and as long as I dont cut one side a couple of inches shorter than the other no one will ever notice if I cut it or 'Leo' from the tres emme adverts cuts it.
It bugs my mom but I haven't had my hair cut by anyone besides myself in years.

Rubbish - I don't like having my hair done by a hairdresser, I just want it cut properly. I couldn't cut my own hair to the same standard.

Yup, but most people could do their own hair, unless their style is exceptionally unusual or their hair exceptionally difficult. There would only be a small number of people who actually need hairdressers. So the hairdressers are depending on people who could do their own hair, but either think they can't, or just like having someone else do their hair (which is fair enough).

I still cut my own hair. It looks abysmal, but I couldn't really give a shit. I'm not paying actual money for someone else to do it. My hair type means any cut is gonna look shite at some point anyway, so why care?

Thanks Kanda! I went to a proper (though very cheap!) hairdresser the other day cos I wanted my hair cut into a bob and I didn't think I could do the back myself. I can recommend Hair by Fairy in Covent Garden - no appointment necessary and it only cost me £13

I think that would be difficult if your hair's really short. My GF, who has very long hair, puts it into a ponytail on top of her head, but twisted; I use hairgrips or bobbles to get a level out of the way and cut like that. That would be more difficult if my hair wasn't curly, though.

I cut my own hair with scissors. Only problem is not having the razor clippers means that it grows back pretty quick and I have to cut it again, but blind cutting with razor clippers is IMO a recipe for disaster anyway. Done with barbers. In my experience they are pretty much all dozy tossers who never listen to what I tell them and leave me with shit haircuts.
