Currys, Brixton (and general service in Brixton stores)

I have to agree - in my experience it is a big struggle buying anything in Curry's in the first place - you pretty much need to bully the staff into selling you something... :D

It's the same with Currys Online. There's an offer on Miele dishwashers at the moment, £70 off, so I 'bought' one online last Tuesday.

Get an email telling me they've received my 'order'.

Next day get an email telling me they're 'processing' my order.

Later that day get an email telling me they've 'processed' my order and I'll get another email giving me a delivery date.

A week and a day later (today) I get two emails, one a 'receipt' and another telling me they now have the item in stock (!), and I'll get another email telling me when the delivery date will be.

FFS!

It's not exactly amazon-style service, is it?

to be fair its not just Currys. loads of Brixton shops are staffed with incompetent peasants who would rather kiss their teeth at you then serve you

thankyou for replying to me especially. I feel honoured.

the chap who made the staffing continuum post is more deserving

nope, this is a first time account :) please check my IP ( if thats any use with IP allocation nowadays )

PC World on the Old Kent Road are fuckin shit as well, hang around for ages for some-one to ask if you need any help

check my pictures!! I am not some dude who got banned and made a new acc.

Back to the thread. Currys and Halfords are shisse

Halfords are terrible, made the mistake of going to them to buy a bike a few years ago, hung around like a spare part for ages before I walked out, dreadfull customer service.

To be fair you do have a point.

The larger chain stores in Brixton have no idea what Customer Service is. I remember losing my temper in McDonalds on one the rare occasions i stupidly decided to consume what passes for food there. The service was diabolical, rude and certainly not fast.

It has a lot of competition, but Curry's does have the worst customer service in Brixton. It's so bad it's almost impossible to actually buy anything in there. I live in hope that it will be closed down and become an Aldi. :D

And of course it's not just the shit of customer service of lack of staff at hand; when you do get someone to help you, most of them don't have any fucking knowledge of the product you are thinking of buying or helpful advice of any kind, other than 'Yeah, that's pretty good'.

Best to do some research online beforehand.

Why's it like that? I've been to Halfords, Argos and erm McDonalds in both Brixton and Croydon and they're just like totally different in terms of service.

I'll stick up for Iceland of late. Since the Pound shop(s) opened and they rearranged a little the queues have got less in there - I'd go as far as to wager that it's now between M&S and Iceland, remarkably, as the title of Brixton's quickest to get out of supermarket. Need frozen peas and some milk in a hurry? - Iceland seems the quickest for most of the day now.

Argos is appalling, confused and slow, but relieved by some genuinely nice people there.

Halfords takes the biscuit for me. I wouldn't want any of those drongos near my bike.

Iceland's alright. Cheap'n'cheerful and the staff always respond to a smile and a chat. I don't mind Argos either - you've just got to pick your time. M&S has been nicely refurbished, the food's good but it's pricey. The staff always seem polite the times I've been there.

Wouldn't know about McD and couldn't care.

Only now Woolies has gone.

It's now:

1. Currys
2. Argos
3. Iceland
4. Maccy D's

I'd add Foot Locker to that list. There is some good service too, notably in A&C Continental Deli on Atlantic Road, and M&S are good too.

It's official. Currys are fucking shit.

A customer service survey conducted by consumer watchdog Which? makes uncomfortable reading for the troubled Dixons Stores Group (DSGi).

Currys Digital, Currys and PC World - all owned by DSGi - occupy the bottom three slots among electrical retailers, with all three scoring a customer satisfaction score of below 50%.

The survey of more than 14,000 Which? readers asked respondents to rate shops on "everything from products to price".

The Which? readers certainly weren't afraid to offer their opinion on the Dixons' stores. Currys Digital staff are described as "unhelpful and unknowledgeable", while one person described the store "as big, brash and impersonal".

John Lewis came top by miles.
