Curb Your Enthusiasm

Last night I watched the episodes "The Doll" and "Shaq".

The Doll was absolutely hilarious....his manager's wife mouthing the words "you fucking sick fucks" at the party had me in stitches, and Larry being caught inspecting his penis rash and with a bottle down his pants  :D

I MUST WATCH MORE OF THIS SHOW!

I've only seen a couple of episodes, but they had me doubled over the whole time.

I *love* the fact that the actors get to improv from an outline and that the show features so many Hollywood mainstays, but many of them of the non-principal/"what the hell is that guy's name, I see him in everything" variety.

I think it's a demonstration of how much show biz clout Larry has that he can get the likes of Ben Stiller, Ted Danson and Julia Louis Dreyfuss to appear on a show like this which isn't obviously mainstream and isn't made by one of the big networks.

Funny I thought you said Ricky Gervais there.

From bad to worse

Last nights episode was straight up wack! I decribed the last weeks show as tenth rate Woody Alan, last night it was somewhere between Buster Keaton and Benny Hill.

Crap slapstick, poor acting, weak observations.... this show is well passed it now :(

I enjoyed it. The breast feeling moment was pretty predictable. But the agrument between Ben Stiller and Larry was great. Lots of stuff continuing from the first episode too, such as the 10th Anniversary/sex thing.

Except Curb is about 10 million times better than Extras, where everyone just looked like they were trying to surf the Gervais zeitgist. I thought anyway.

No she wasn't I'm afraid, though they do look similar. Cheryl Hines appears in CYE, an actress called Kristin Richardson appeared in Lost. Though she has previously played a corpse in CSI.

For any other eagle-eyed Lost viewers out there, which episode does Katy Sagal appear in? She's Ted Bundy's wife in Married with Kids, and Leela's voice in Futurama...

Ted Bundy? I am not sure if Ted Bundy had a wife but, if he did, i bet she isn't around now.

Al Bundy ;)

Was Ted Bundy a serial Killer? I thought he was but when I read that I thought I must have mixed him up with someone else.

I decided to watch Boys and Girls last night and video CYE. Technical problems mean the tape is unwatchable :(. Is it repeated later in the week?

Last night's was the best of the series so far with so many elements; the golf, the toilet, the dog, the glasses. And everything revolving round him. I love this guy.

It is repeated on Friday nights at 12.35

This show had passed me by for its first few seasons. I recently rented a disc from Season 1 and watched a couple of episodes with great anticipation.

And i must say, i was rather underwhelmed. Raised a few smiles in places, but not a single laugh-out-loud moment. I'll stick with it for a few more episodes, but if it doesn't grow on me pretty quickly, it's out of the rotation.

Saw the last couple of episodes over the holidays. The last episode is long, and they show too much of the Producers, but when Mel Brooks revealed why he'd hired Larry David it was one of the most delicious and layered ironies ever!

I'd suggest series 3 - The Nanny From Hell episode - the most evil comedy :D :D

There don’t seem to be any non season specific curb threads.

Anyway, late to the party as ever I’m really enjoying curb on NowTV - currently a race to finish all 11 seasons by Feb 5th when they all drop off apparently. I tried to watch it 2 years ago but I wasn’t receptive to comedy as I was in a bit of a mess at that time.

So far highlight episodes have been - The Doll, the ski lift, and anything with Richard Lewis (I love his hair!) in. Also any time Larry and Susie get in a fight.

Perhaps the biggest compliment I can give is that I think of what Larry would do or say in a given situation the same why I’d think of what Alan might do.
