Because you are gullible enough to believe things that are dangerous to the safety of the rest of us.

You clearly have no respect for the body or lived experience, you do not care about other peoples beliefs because you think you are superior, you have a closed circle of belief that people either 'get or don't get', which divides people into those towards enlightenment and the enlightened and a lower class what you almost make out to be sub-humans waiting for your spritual glow to illuminate their lives, ETC ETC.

In a nutshell.

Ahh, that old chestnut.

My question answers yours.

We have discussed the holocaust before, and you dont know if it happened. It would not matter if there was ethnic cleansing happening now, because essentially 'nothing matters' etc etc etc.

That is the ultimate conclusion of your belief system.

I have, thanks.

:)

But I know how you want to spin it, as you consider yourself something of a spiritual renegade, or some bullshit.

Can we just let them talk amongst themselves while we carry on the main discussion? Alternatively, there's a concurrent discussion notched up a level elsewhere if you're interested?

do you really 'have' your thoughts?

is 'having' really an appropriate description of the relation between you and your thoughts?

Nicely avoided. I like the use of more stupid questions to quietly move on.

You have read Merleau-Ponty? There is your answer to the questions in that post.

I read the review of that book, it sounds brilliant.

It is on my shopping list.

I'd say The Trouble with Physics should be compulsory reading for anyone thinking about studying theoretical physics. I'd say any objective assessmant of Smolin's account of string theory would conclude that it's a theoretical dead end and hence it's cultish defence by string theorists.

Also, I strongly recommend ch. 13 for some fascinating evidence of serious conflict between the real universe and present theory.
