Cubase SX2 Issues

Hey MC5 i did re read but I didnt see anything to help this time sadly. I can see the little bars moving up and down and i can hear when i tap on the microphone but when playing back the track nothing comes out the speakers. Its driving me mad! I have a soundblaster live 24 bit but there is also something called 'ATI HD rear audio output' - I dont know what this is? Could this be whats confusing it? Here are some screen shots and my system (you can see the volume meters lighting up in the first shot:

Output on the channel is to the ASIO for all, try changing that to the sb live output.

Any sound now?

I dont have that option. I have 'ASIO4all V2 stero out', 'left' and 'right'. I am gonna get some sleep now but I will check back tomorrow morning. Thanks for your help so far. I know its hard to help with not much info to go on!

You should be able to load the driver for sblive in the channel if the drivers are OK?

Might need to uninstall the SB live drivers and do a re-install? Might be worth updating the drivers if you haven't already?

If you press F4 you can add a mono bus in cubase to both inputs and outputs.

Do this and we can take it from there.

Cubase SX3 is crashing on this laptop at the moment, so difficult for me to think things through with no example working at present. :D

I cant find the cd that came with the card, I dont know if i have it. Any other ideas? I have tried playing an audio file in cubase and the same thing happens. I can see it playing but cant hear it :(

Hi MC5,

No i will try that and also download the drivers (i know which ones i need now) at home tonight. Thanks for you help so far mate. Appreciate it.

Ohh i think i have got it working. I downloaded an older version of ASIO 4 all and re installed my soundcard drivers and cubase and now i can hear what i record!! I think the new version of ASIO isn't great for XP. Cheers for your help :)

Mine is an old evaluation version. ;)

I would really like to buy Cubase 4, but cash wise it's a bit difficult at present.

Yamaha bought Steinberg a few years back, which suggests the latest Cubase would suit my needs and a bit more.

A review here on Cubase 5. Check out the video at the bottom.

The site for musicians has products competatively priced and you can negotiate down with them, as I did when they knocked £40 of the price of some gear I bought. I was told by a salesperson that the company who make the gear I was buying don't allow retailers to offer a price lower than the price fixed. :hmm: Is that legal?
