Cthulu movie in post production

I was always a Nyarlhotep fan myself.

Shoggoths are a favourite in my household, always willing to do my bidding as long as the correct incantations are uttered.

Anyway , back to the film. Has anyone seen that Cthulhu film that came out not long ago. I've got it somewhere in the flat but for the life of me I can't find it.

It was a black and white film with a 1920's look to it.

Very.

He was also a racist old fuck, wasn't aware just how racist until I read that article.

I'm not going to defend his views, but as has already been discussed a million times, he was a product of his era. I'm a big fan of his work and take it for what it is. But as you said he's more important for the iunfluence he had on future writers. Ambrose Bierce to Stephen King.

Oh, and the hounds of Tindalos are my favourites horror monsters. Actually thought about finding a house without any large angles. :o

Don't get me wrong, he was a hugely important influence on fantasy horror, I was just making a general comment.

This thread is:confused:

I thought Lovecraft was just a few horror/fantasy/sci fi movies, never heard of all this.

I remember seeing Re-animator at my mates, although it was 20 odd years back I think I remember it being quite good. Is it?

well to be honest I was exagerrating a bit, I sort of knew he wrote them aswell, just a bit surprised there seems to be so much of it.

Nah, very major american horror writer of the early part of last century (though very much a "cult" thing, so not surprised you've not heard too much by him). Wrote LOTS of stories of a very dark and gothic nature, but mostly concerning the premise that our universe was a very dark and dangerous place, and that there were a big old pile of very ancient and very nasty creatures, ranging from invisible flying nasties, to what were effectively gods lurking about the place.

Some of it hasn't dated that well, but a lot of it has, and some of the concepts he works with are really quite un-nerving. His works spawned a load of stuff really, including some books by people like August Derelith set against the same background, a quiite famous (and very cult and geeky) RPG called Call of Cthulhu, an some films that have all been bobbins.
