Crystal Palace: ThugWatch

so the club has dropped the Chopra non-incident. You'd have to agree, that would draw one to the conclusion that it was bollocks. accusing someone of racist abuse is a serious matter. if i was the player in question (i believe Sean Derry) i'd be unhappy to say the least.

fair enough if thats the case with the FAW - i hope you do get out of it soon.

jones interview is on the bbc - i've just had a look and the video has expired, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/8302312.stm

your players are to me like the new breed of footballers in the championship. they seem to have a chip on their shoulder that they have to slum it with the likes of palace, with our physical style, and that they are deserving of premiership status soley on account of the fact they knock the ball around a bit. the diving, play acting and general whinging to the ref at selhurst last season was by some distance the worst example of this for a long time.

like a lot of modern fans you lot probably sit around in the pub getting misty eyed about the old days, and the sort of characters and old-skool players you had when football was more of a down to earth affair. yet a side like palace get stuck in and you're choking on your prawn sandwhiches.

i'm not a huge warnock fan, but what he is doing is keeping the club afloat during a very difficult time. the fact that he's got under your skin so much (why else start a thread on palace when you weren't even playing us), is probably a good thing, as it generates a bit of a rivalry for us, which with Millwall and Brighton long gone off our radar, does at least make the fixture list interesting. still looking forward to your april implosion again this year.

Maybe they feel that they're deserving of premiership status on account of the fact that they're currently sat in an automatic promotion place, play exciting, flowing and attacking football and have scored more goals than anyone else in the division.

Double the amount of goals that Palace have mustered, in fact.

The club never raised it as an issue in the first place.

How convenient, but I can't imgaine DJ saying anything bitterly, he never shows any emotion, probably hard to get worked up about football being that important after the crap he's put up with in his life!

I hardly think Roger Johnson was play acting when he spent two nights in hospital

Are you even old enough to discuss the old days? and how come we are all prawn sandwich eaters?

I dont disagree with keeping a club afloat, but if you have to resort to downright thuggery to do it than maybe the tactics are a little suspect to say the least. If we implode come April, so be it, atleast we will have had two seasons of competing at the top of the league, playing good attacking football.

I think you also need to throw in the fact that a lot of the cardiff fans on here loved the place so much that they moved to London at the first opportunity and their nearest football club is.....Crystal Palace.

What I think we are seeing here is that small town chip on the shoulder mentality that many people from the provinces bring with them when they move to the City.

That doesn't even make sense, and as I posted earlier, it's not just Cardiff fans who have had a problem with Wanker's teams.

what do you want, a fucking biscuit ? i dont disagree cardiff are a better side than palace at present. they are two clubs at different times - cardiff have just moved to a plush new ground and are in the mix for promotion. we dont even own our ground, havent got a pot to piss in, and have a chairman desperate for a new buyer. cardiff have got a great squad (at this level) with exciting players. our side is a blend of journeymen that came on free's and a couple of youth team players punching above their weight.

i dunno why palace have got under your skin so much, are you like this with all clubs that get stuck in ?

Its because Palace had the audacity not to just roll over and die for them.

Some one said they were the Millwall of Wales. I think thats wrong. I think of them as being more like the Manure of Wales in that they seem to think they have this God given right for referees to give them everything they want along with being governed by a compliant Football Association who know they are their biggest money earners.

Corrected for you.

No, we're not like this with all clubs that get stuck in, just thos ethat resort to thuggery season aftyer season.

havent you recently spent 4m on Chopra? as for the rest of your squad, good on Dave Jones. he's a decent manager and IF (i really dont know so i'll take you word for it) he's assembled your current squad on the cheap, then he deseves a lot of credit.

either way i get the feeling that if you fail to get promotion this year then there will be major problems ahead financially...

No. Next question

What the fuck are you dribbling on about with this irrelevant and insulting guff?

No. Next question

i dunno mate, as stated i'm not that bothered about how much your squad cost. short of being slightly taken aback by how ungracious your club is, i dont really care that much about Cardiff. it seems that you have got some sort of obsession with palace being a dirty side. maybe we are a bit. fuck it. play the fixtures and move on innit.

it was a question, hence the funny squiggly mark with a dot underneath, that followed the sentence.

why you have to be so defensive and confrontational i dont know, is it a welsh thing ?

You must be an absolute joy when you're pissed.

Just when I thought you'd reached your maximum potential as a fucking idiot, you pulled this one out of the bag. Congratulations. That was a fabulous slice of causal xenophobia.

for the love of god make it stop... how is that xenophobic. i ask if being defensive and confrontational is a welsh thing, and you act all, err, defensive and confrontational...

for the record i quite like wales, as my grandad was welsh, but dont let that stop you getting on your high horse.

Apart from being all "defensive and confrontational" what other wholly negative national traits do you think the Welsh possess, Mr Xenophobe?

i asked a question - thats not stating a fact is it ? i aint rising to your bait, as stated i like wales, used to have a soft spot for cardiff (on account of my grandad) and wanted to see them do well, which i've now moved west to your friends from swansea. i dunno why you seem to have got your knickers in a twist about palace so much but if it makes the fixture list a bit more interesting for us, then great.

oh and to all you shaun derry fans out there, here's an interview that's fairly relevant to this thread.

Crystal Palace skipper Shaun Derry says teams should start respecting them rather than criticising their style of play.
Nottingham Forest's Billy Davies was the latest manager to have a pop at the Eagles' physical style after Saturday's 1-1 draw with comments that sparked an angry response from Palace boss Neil Warnock and Derry was quick to back him up.
"A lot has been said about us this year and some comments have been unacceptable," he said.
"You have to respect us as a team and not everybody is going to have the same kind of style.
"If you had 24 teams playing the same way it's going to be boring.
"We know what our strengths are and when we come up against the more technically gifted players then we have to get in among them and break them down and make it difficult for them.
"We are confident in the way we play and we have proved we can mix it and at times played some great stuff."

And you moan about people posting from biased souces!!!ffs.

Only useful thing that quote illustrates is that it isnt just cardiff moaning about your thuggery, as I pointed out several posts ago.

One question, why would Shaun Derry think that teams HAVE to respect Palace? And you moan about Cardiff believing they are entitled to special treatment!

really... do you have to be so confrontational, it is kinda childish, no ? i just read it and thought it was worth mentioning. i'm not shaun derry, and i'm not here to 'defend' him, why should i. just thought the interview touched on the points you brought up here.

The figures speak for themselves. The only team caught cheating more than Cardiff so far this season is QPR. (That's only if you don't count the amount of dodgy dive's Cardiff have been getting away with match after match) :D

http://www.sportinglife.com/football/cc_championship/stats/booking.html

That isn't a cheating league tho is it?

Anyway Cardiff have 20 cards, Palace 19, not much between us really. Bearing in mind you should have had atleast one red against us and another red on saturday against Forest.

Wait up, who are those violent thugs who've had 3 red cards already this season ? Name begins with a C... think they're a bit 'ard
