Crystal Palace Park Bowl - festivals 2005-2021

hey cool, that sounds just like my thing. is it in crystal palace park on the stage that is in the lake? if yes i will come too. can someone quickly reply please..

i have just checked it out myself. this should be nice.

hint for brixton people. it is really easy to get there by no 3 bus from high street or with the train leaving every .28 and .58 minute past the hour towards orpinton. get off at east penge.

maybe see some of you later there.

i think so. i've never been to crystal palace, oddly enough, so i'm going along to have a look at the park as much as anything else.
it's brightening up. or trying to...

That's the one! The stage with the enormous speakers that look like they've got a few centuries' worth of rust on them. :D

Will be there about 3 or 4pm should think... :)

We turned up a bit later than expected and got rained on by way of retribution, so gave up and went down the pub instead (will probably head over there again this afternoon to make up for it). What we did see was promising though, and it was great to chat with Editor and meet Choc in the Alma.

We returned to the Alma for the live acts that I'd seen advertised, although it was actually a DJ - thumping tunes though. Maybe the other stuff's tonight instead...

Hope the guys who went on to Gurkha Cottage found it satisfactory by the way - myself and Alien Nation have been going in there for a few years now and feel it's a bit special... :)

ah, so it was you who recommended it. thanks very much. i was locked in mortal combat with the adams family pinball machine, but adrienne said that someone had suggested we give the gurkha cottage a try. fantastic place. the free sherry to start off with wasn't much cop, but the food was gorgeous. and just a short walk to a 432 bus stop! we'll be going back there for sure.

thanks also to the kind folks who gave us a lift in the pouring rain from the bowl to the alma. i did think that we were a traffic accident away from tragedy, all seven of us stuffed in the back of that little van with the bike. great fun, though. as was falling out of the van into the alma.

did anyone stay to see the last band?

yo, that was fun.

nice to meet you too acid priest :) and thanks for that pint. the adam family pinball left me and eme a bit disapointed as the game seemed to be over in no time

lol :D to ianw who just managed preventing his fall staight into the alma due to his long arms clinging on to the bycicle. thanks god for his special gift ;)

was looking forward to going, then lost my vision saturday morning and lo a migraine arrived and i slept my whole saturday away  :(

It was a wicked day out!

I was gutted that I never won any tickets to be in the crowd at next weeks Top of the Pops - although I did manage to make a total tit of myself running across the bowl whenever the Pearl and Dean music was played.

It's a shame it started raining later, but by that time my companions and I had lost interest and were paying far more attention to Saurons two TV towers, and the sphinxes guarding them at the bottom (looming above us in full technicolor magic mushroom-o-vision).

I think the best music of the day for me was that bizzare shrieking Japanese band, who finished up with that screaming version of the Monkey Magic theme tune. That. woz. clarse.

We went down again yesterday - the weather held out until almost exactly the same time, although it was only a light sprinkling this time. The last band, The Little Kids (I think  ) were pretty good - some nice grinding bass and filthy percussion. I also gave in and bought a karimba, which is one of those far-eastern finger piano things - lovely sound.

Yeah, the sherry was rather poor, wasn't it? It seemed to be some kind of dry, weak variant - I can only guess that they must have run out of the usual stuff (which is much richer and sweeter, more Madeira). Glad you liked GC though. :)

It looks like I 've booked Milk Kan (who played on Saturday) for the next Offline! :)
Nice one Ed. :) I'd heard good things about these guys before and sadly missed them on Saturday ( :( ), so won't be making the same mistake at Offline...
