Crysis, 16th Nov. Very expensive game!

£50. Just got it today. Mate reminded me I'll need to reinstall windows cos I didn't have a dual core installed before.

no, you can just edit your boot.ini and add in the two lines

/kernel=Ntkrnlmp.exe /hal=Halmacpi.dll and you will get the multiprocessor kernel and hal.

Well, pop goes my machine.

The VRM jammed the fan and I had all the bios fan and cpu thermal protection switched off as I'd cleared the CPU in a failed BIOS upgrade. I burnt my hand touching the cpu heat sink after it crashed for no reason and I opened the oven like case. It carried on working once it cooled down but today it died and has refused to come back on.

Prolly just the CPU but the noise this puts out is mental so I am going for whisper quiet this time around. With 5 hard disks I've no idea how quiet it can get.

Hmm, Quad core.

Depends on the hard drives, useage and if you can find a way to turn them off if they aren't in use (selectively, could be i've missed a trick on that).

You can turn them all off but not individually. Might be software that can do them individually. Don't want the raptors to switch off though.

I think the two fans on this motherboard were to blame for the noise so buying a fanless one will make a massive difference.

Waves good bye to 550 quid.

QuadCore Q6600
2Gb Corsair 800Mhz DDR2
EVGA nVidia 680i expensive as fuck but looks nice motherboard.
Coolermaster Cosmos case, which better be nice quality for that cash.

Not even got a graphics card for this yet. Maybe next month.
