Crossing picket lines

Some worrying attitudes on this thread ....
I would **never** cross a picket line .... my position is unchanged.

That said I sort of understand the pessimism of KJ and posterseveralnumbers ( :D )

Ive never been a union activist, but I've been in loads. For the record my current union (NASUWT) said we would have to cross a picket line of Unison / GMB unless we felt physically threatened.

Ultimately teachers were forced in and do prep and marking type stuff. Not going to be many complaints there. Teaching is much easier with no kids around :)

As i understand it this is what happened generally in the country. I am a supply teacher so was not employed that day anyhow (nice get out).

Perhaps there were some whole staffrooms in solidarity who didnt show up, but under their contracts theyd only have to work the time later, at the heads discrection and possibly at the teachers inconvinience compared to a quiet day in school.

Once there was a strike when I ashamedly wasnt in the union at the time. I had to pull a
sickie :D

Certainly I think from parents, pupils and teachers there was moral support for the campaign for fair pensions.
