Croatia v England

I can see it being another draw...1-1. Croatia are a real test of McLaren's ability and the players. I know England are missing a few key players, but they were a joke against Macedonia.

no... france were a joke against scotland. spain were a joke against sweden.

england didn't play well against macedonia but they had the best of the game and should have won easily.

sometimes results don't go the way they should do. that's hardly an excuse to start with the knee jerking.

one of the problems with the england team is the massive highs and lows. when they beat somebody they're "the best team in the world" and when they draw (or, heaven forbid, lose!) then they are "a joke".

No, they're somewhere in the middle.

Not looking forward to this. Croatia have a bunch of rascist cunts as supporters and would love England to stuff 'em....but it's not going to happen. Ledley (the best player in the last game) out, Steven G out...Crouch firing blanks....the Rooney bubble well on the way to busting.

Shit!

I saw something on the news about this today and if anyone thought extreme natonalism was dead, have a look at Croatia. In fact, this seems to be a problem with football supporters, generally speaking, all over Eastern Europe. :(

I remember a few years ago watching a Croatia Zagreb - Celtic game back in 1998 and the abuse that Regi Blinker got from their fans was vile. Apparently there is a similar problem with Polish fans as well.

It will all be done and dusted by then mate. Kicks off at 6!

I know (now!)

I found out about the 6 pm kickoff a bit later on, after I'd posted ... :(

Would be a fucking Wednesday when I'm working late, grrrr...

At the time (ages ago) that I got signed up to work late tomorrow, I didn't even know the DATE of this match, let alone the kickoff time.

Poo, and indeed, bum ....

Prediction: Rooney to get verballed and pulled all over - and to get at least booked/pulled off early

[erm.. or to score 2]

Oh and robinson is starting to look like he isn't the great keeper everyone was hoping he woulod be.

dave

even ray clemence would look ordinary with that defense in front of him. Got to say I would drop lampard and gerrard. walcott instead of rooney and bent for crouch. rooney coming off the bench would be better than rooney starting.

Well done the Under 21s! 2-0 away in Germany is a good result.

Now they will sack Taylor as usual and we won't win next year.

Taylor might be a mediocre club boss, but IMO he is ideal England boss material.

Theo's goals last night reminded me of a fresh-faced, pacey and deadly Michael Owen, he looks the biz.

I think he looks more like his role model Henry actually.

Sven's biggest mistake wasn't taking him to Germany, but not playing him.

This is when McClaren's England really get found out. 3-1 to Croatia. Rooney to get sent off for being a twat.

I don't think Rooney will get sent off, but agree on the score.

9/4 is ridiculous odds for croatia.

33-1 for croatia to win 3-1. I'd have a tenner on that if i were in england

I smell PROFIT! With odds like that for a team who just don't lose at home against a shaky - and injury depleted - England team who are gambling on a 3-5-2 formation (which smacks of desperation), it's gotta be worth a go.

This is like a no-lose bet really, if England get something out of the game I'll be pleased - and surprised - but if I win money I'll be pleased too. :)

It may surprise some of you but I (a Jock) actually want England to win. Normally I'm indifferent to England or depending on the opposition want them to get fucked. But in this case I hope you turn the nazi cunts over.

I am NOT looking forward to this.

Just look at the formation. How the hell is Gary Neville supposed to be a right wing back?

Fair enough, Cashley can do the job. He's got the pace to get forward and the right balance between defence and attack, but Gary Neville is no wing back. He doesn't have the attacking talents or the pace to patrol the entirety of that wing.

If you had Eboue, Cafu, Lahm or someone like that, it might make sense; but Gary Neville, not a chance. He's a good, sometimes a great, full back but I reckon he's not right for this role. Is the offical 5-3-2, rather than 3-5-2, a recognition of that weakness?

I'd love to be proved wrong tonight and for Neville and Cashley to give us the required width but I can't help but envisage a scenario where we have no attacking options on the right whatsoever, allowing Croatia to exploit that space, bypass our midfield and tear us to pieces.

Will this be the first match when England fans wake up to the fact that we've got Steve 'Pro-Zone' Mclaren in charge? Isn't he just a poor man's Sven?
