Criticisms of John Pilger?

Oooh dear you want to see me wriggle...
Name names....Be more specific.......Give examples......Crikey this really is difficult.......

Lots of people hold views on these subjects which reflect their ignorance and unwillingness to really think issues through...

If you think the Liberal Left has been saying the right things on these issues, fair enough.....
But if you actually look at what people have said on Islamic fundamentalism,i think it shows hypocrisy, racism, sexism and dishonesty.

On Immigration,it shows racism and a lack of internationalism.

On anti social crime...It shows contempt for people

On the welfare state/vol/public sector it shows contempt and corruption..

On Iraq and Darfur it shows racism and hypocrisy..

I dont know about names there are probably about 4 0r 5 million self righteous lefties in the UK....Tony Benn,SWP,Harold Pinter,Ken Loach etc etc etc....How many names do you want??? Is this some kind of test?

Ok, now we're getting somewhere - more vague assertions, which don't really mean anything... but at least you've named some names...

but you haven't quite connected the dots.

Where exactly have

Tony Benn
Harold Pinter
Ken Loach

said things that show :

hypocrisy
racism
sexism
dishonesty
corruption
ignorance
umwillingness to think issues through
?

Or if you don't want to do that,

1) But if you actually look at what people have said on Islamic fundamentalism,i think it shows hypocrisy, racism, sexism and dishonesty.

What have they said exactly? Where have they said it?

2) On Immigration,it shows racism and a lack of internationalism.

What have they said exactly? Where have they said it?

3) On anti social crime...It shows contempt for people

What have they said exactly? Where have they said it?

4) On the welfare state/vol/public sector it shows contempt and corruption..

What have they said exactly? Where have they said it?

5) On Iraq and Darfur it shows racism and hypocrisy.

What have they said exactly? Where have they said it?

See a pattern here?

I think you've adopted the fake enemy of the American right, and you're finding it impossible to show any specifics.

PS: As far as I can see, the SWP are authoratarians and are fairly far from being liberal - if you want to attack the SWP, attack the SWP but don't try to make out that they represent some broader "liberal" movement.

I mean in a strict sense you could say that someone like Pilger is a liberal, because he doesn't couch his specific criticisms of the state actors involved in the various conflicts that he covers in terms of a dialectical analysis of Capital as a whole, i.e. there's no sense in which he argues that the capitalist state is an actor that should be relegated to the dustbin of history in its entirety, it's more about critiquing specific activities of the state - classic liberal reformism, in other words. The funny thing is, the exact same thing is true of tbaldwin.

Weird huh?

Nick1181,
Im more than happy to answer those questions if you start a more specific thread but this relates to John Pilger and thats getting too far off the subject as i think good old WoW was trying to hint.
