Criminal record for overfilling bin

aaah, so..a single post, made after you made your comment! (tho i do agree that one comment is rather wanky)

I meant it somewhat sarcastically, my main intent was to demonstrate that the whole story has most likely been "sexed-up" by the tabloids.

The "offender" probably got a wad of cash for his "quote" ....

It is so amusing when the Daily Mail and "true-lefties" converge. :)

No, I'm sneering at him because his grammar is suspiciously perfect (in my inexpert opinion) - it looks like it might have been tweaked by the journo. It's better than plenty of undergrads.

well if it's better than plenty of undergrads, I'd hate to see your analysis of state school grammar, personally I think your attitude stinks.

Now I realise that your attitude actually does stink.:p

Sadly, I have heard of a languages student using txt spk in the English part of an essay.

(I barely scraped an O level myself - 32 years ago - 6 months after leaving school at 16)

So then, what do you suppose this model recycler (with impeccable grammar) was filling his huge bin with ?

I would love to see it

I've got two black bins and three green recycle bins they all get full. The green bins are only emptied once a month and if they changed our black bins to fortnightly I'd definitely end up with excess rubbish.

I wish they'd empty the recyclable bins more often, now I'm chucking out stuff that could be recycled so I don't overfill the bin.

there needs to be a cull of council officers I'm serious.
we've had them using covert surveillance for trivial reasons now handing out criminal punishments for non crimes  none of the daft fuckers think there doing anything wrong.
forget about big brother and the military complex.
its little brother we should be watching out for not going to be any work camps just a constant demand for one the spot fines and trivial reasons to make your like just that little bit more difficult.
As the bonkers right wing talk show host it whent he come to take your wheely bin shoot them in the face :D

Do councillors even have any control over the practises of the councils they supposedly run? It seems that the unelected chief excecutives and officers wield a ridiculous amount of power over what happens and that the elected councillors answer to them half the time.

No surprise we hear little from the cod-left about this if it's so - given so many of them hold local authority beaurocrat positions.

do you have any idea how council's actually run?

you can't take a shit without going through about 4 committee's all the way up to the Executive and Councillors knowing about it.

please don't advocate making it any fucking worse, it takes over 2 months to get any serious decision made where i work as it is ffs.

i'm actually guessing that poster654544684637 doesn't know how councils work. not like he imagines.

It's almost time for my monthly Cod Left Workshop. This week's topic is 'How to annoy proper working class socialists through the medium of leaflets'

I see that the guy who got fined said that they could also get fined if they put their bin out before 0700 hours.

If my council do that I'll be in real trouble 'cos both my other half and I start work at 0600 ! What the hell are people on shifts supposed to do.

Stupid rules dreamt up by stupid petty people. Seriously who dreams up this 'laws'?

As per usual, it appears to be a postcode lottery.

I live in a street of owner-occupiers with a busy supermarket at the end so it's a pretty mucky - but it hardly ever gets swept, and the bin men leave the bins all over the place - the council wouldn't dare to enforce any petty rules.

I do wonder that they target council residents with the height of their pettiness. It's a sort of 'we own you' attitude.

thats why we need armed citizens
difficult to impose petty rules if the peasantry can fight back

You have raised an interesting point. And it feeds into something that is worrying me a lot as well. We have a govt that has created a massive number of petty laws that impinge on peoples movements and actions, has increased the surveillance side of the state and has encouraged a 'grass your neighbour' culture.

What is concerning is we have become a nation of petty rules in many different areas. However, we haven't acted like the Italians and said 'fuck you' to the govt when the govt brings in stupid petty laws we have quietly aquiesed to them.

If a nation bovinely goes along with stupid and divisive petty laws it doesn't bode well if we ever get some form of fascist or quasi-fascist govt and we are faced with laws that aint petty but are evil. We will have lost the ability to resist we will love our own enslavement.

We point the fingers at the Germans quite rightly for the Holocaust but given the right conditions and the right target it could easily be us given the way we are going.

I don't think that the British in previous times would have done this and have noticed this 'obey obey' mindset grow over the years.

There also now seem to be a multitude of nasty and petty "enforcement" and instant-fining type jobs for just about everything.

The functions and outfits they work for vary, but what they have in common is a disproportionate and sheer bloody-mindedly intransigent overreaction to the most petty of offences - dishing out on-the-spot fines whilst refusing to listen a word their victim tries to say (nomatter how politely) to resolve the situation. When the victim tries to politely explain to them what has happened, the officious fucker just goes into dalek-mode and repeats a set script over and over again. Small wonder so many people "lose it" at this point and end up smacking them one.

A lot of these types seem to be paid on commission and have NO incentive to resolve these (often accidental) transgressions reasonably without bringing out the big guns.

They are often far worse in attitude than the police, tbh, and even less accountable. They seem to view themselves as having an instant "judge, jury and executioner" role.

I dunno I sense a growing anger amongst people, given the right leadership......

needless to say I would not like to be a civil servant when we all snap.
