Criminal Justice

Getting him on the brown at the end was very dark though, brrr...:( will it help him remember though?

And totally unrealistic, that spoiled it a bit for me especially as they chose to end the episode on such nonsense. It's a great drama but to have pretentions that it's depicting the reality of the British criminal justice system is a bit of a joke imo. I'll be tuning in tonight tho' :)

I have watched monday and tuesdays epidodes. Will watch final three tomorrow night I expect. Season finales of House (cracking ep) and Heroes (in a few minutes) to get through tonight.

The first two were excellent imo. Ben Wishaw was amazing in Perfume, and I knew he would be great in this type of role. He is dish delish....

Did he do it though? If not, who did? Jealous abusive Daddy?

Hmmm and loving Pete Postlethwaite. He is class. His two posh barrister/lawyers are complete nobbers though arent they?

Oh, and the prison stuff is really scary. It made me pause it and come on line to pay my mortgage, I got that scared. :(

Yeah, I thought that was a bit silly too. At least they haven't done a rape scene (yet!), which would have been straight from gritty prison drama scenes 101.

Apart from that it's been a great series though, plenty of twists and turns.

That should be a bit clearer after last night's 'sode. Another ridiculous plot line though when the young QC snogs Ben in the holding cell  He is a great actor though but does anyone else agree he's got a touch of the Peter Sutcliffe's about him? :D

i was flitting between this and big brother. was last night the final one? i missed the end.

haha!! Did you hear what Stone asked for in the record shop? Nurse with wound :D

Yeah that was funny, I really like the Stone character including the way he goes everywhere in a pair of flip-flops/slippers cos of his eczematous feet - Ewww! It's the final one tonight foo, worth catching up with on i-player if you've missed it.

Hell if it makes people think twice about going to prison that can only be a good thing can't it? :)

Missed all but the last 20 mins of last night, what did he 'see' when he was on the brown or aren't we told?

Just him and her running away from the icey van. That's it

The bit about the kitten was a bit 'wooo' wasn't it??

Yeh I'm sure that scene will have a massive impact on the number of people going to prison over the next few months (soz about the sarcasm zenie but come on . .)

He just saw a re-played version of events in his minds eye as he was drifting off to the land of nod (nothing to do with her ending up dead just the bit where they were running down the road after they bought the big fuck off 99's from the ice cream van).

I could hardly bear to watch it such was the fear ......

But he got released and hope all well (bar poor Hooch)

Very dark and thought provoking. Great programme.

anyone else feel that the last episode was very rushed? Looked to me like it was meant to be a 6 parter and they edited the last two into one.

Yeah I know what you mean, one minute he was in prison contemplating a life sentence the next he was on his way home. I thought the whole thing was good but I'd like to see something like this that was based on a true story. There was a bit too much dramatic licence for my liking. I mean would someone (Hooch) really sacrifice their own life in an attempt to uncover new evidence for someone else, someone they'd only known a short time?

On another note, I thought Ben's mum (Juliet Aubrey, below) was rather fit :)

Yes, I did think that was stretching it a bit. But, its what drama is supposed to do isnt it? Bend and shape ideas to make a good programme.

The only really ropey acting came from the coppers boss man. What a crap actor he was.

I watched the final three all together last night, so I am currently nursing a super lustathon over Ben. And no, he is no Sutcliffe redsnapper

I was really pissed off with it actually. After 4 great episodes, I felt let down by last night's. Felt totally rushed, and nowhere near as realistic as the others, if you know what I mean.

Would have been better if they'd found out about the bent copper first

Yes absolutely madamv, of course that's the sort of thing that makes a good drama. It's cos I read quite a bit about Criminal Justice in the press prior to watching it and how much research the writer had done before making it so the finished product was supposedly a good representation of what actually goes on.

P.s. He does look a bit like PS
;)

Maybees he someone with that sort of character would have od'd after cheating on his cell mate, when he was supposedly a good guy/father figure.

Golly. :(

The whole programme freaked me out. I found the prison stuff really hard - I know people who have 'done time' but they dont really speak about it, so I know very little about the ins and outs tbh.

I really enjoyed it and I have the delicious Ben to slaver over in Brideshead Revisited later this year.... perfect ;)

I have been watching it but that lead Ben is really annoying. He is meant to be what 20? however looks all of 26/27, and comes across as a waste of space. I mean what does he do???? In prison it is just totally unrealistic. I am enjoying it but the minutae is very frustrating.

Actually that would make more sense. I hadn't thought of it like that - as in rather than top himself he thought he would die whilst doing the guy he'd betrayed a good deed because he felt so bad about it. Yeah I like that it adds credence to the 'honour amongst thieves' thing :)

((((Hooch))))) :(

He (Ben) reminded me more of a young Ian brown tbh but P.S. seemed more appropriate. It's the bearskin hair-do he was sporting more than anything I think.

See worramean? :D

Yup.... cant wait to see his fopping around the british countryside snogging other men :D :o

so, did we not find out who actually killed the girl then? i haven't got around to watching it all yet..

Yup...

Its was the guy who killed the other person that night. She witnessed the murder and he followed them and killed her

:p

I thought the third episode had way too much 'tell not show', about some of the intricacies of the legal system, and the end seemed a bit confused (did Bill Paterson simply ignore the other murder, letting the crims police themselves, and so miss linking it up with 'our' murder? Or was there summat else going on?). The lawyer snogging laddie was rather unbelievable, but important for the later set up I guess. Didn't think the ending was too rushed - no point showing the retrial, we'd seen how the courts operate anyway, so there would have been no new information in that. Could have done with knowing how long had passed before he could get a retrial tho. Even with 'compelling new evidence' it would still take bloody ages normally.

:p

i.e. the guy at the petrol station who saw her throw the fag onto the forecourt, he followed them to the coast and back as madamv sez.

belboid: as i understood it Box let the guy who did it get away with it cos he had connections to Freddy Graham, the big boss man in the nick.
