crass yuk-making bits from books

Richard Morgan has decided to go into full blown sex scenes in his latest "The Steel Remains" (rather good btw) and, well, they alternate between being graphically anatomical (fingers being stuck into "the whorl of his anus") and slightly icky - plus they just get in the way of a good story!

jesus thats bad, one step away from calling it a choclate starfish or a rusty sherriffs badge

You should read the multiples sex stuff in the first (and no doubt second) Void books...:D

Dunno about crass, but I found the whole scene where Bateman kills Bethany, his ex from college, with a nail gun and some hydrochloric acid, and finally dances around her, smoking his cigar screaming 'See! I still SMOKE!! I NEVER QUIT YOU STUPID BITCH', the most affecting death in the entire book, mainly cos she's the closest to an innocent in the story (along with Christie, the blonde hooker)...certainly the only character I had any kind of liking of, other than Patrick of course...

I remember the rat pipe bit more than that bit.

Years ago there was a tube advert for some horror story, and it creeped me out for the whole journey every bloody day. It was an extract from the book, where the bad guy has someone strapped down and anaesthetised, and is about to pierce ther eyeball with something while their eyes are pinned open and they can't help but see the needle coming closer and closer. Effectively scary, yes, but it's 9am and I'm on my way to work!

The main character having the flesh stripped from his finger by a cannibalistic fat blubbery cult leader on a doomed orbital in Consider Phlebas.

That whole scene sprang immediately to mind when I read the thread title. The bit where the fat bloke is choosing which set of metal dentures to use to eat some bloke alive

Oh, God... I really want to read this now! :D ...Can you cough up the title for me, Rollinder? :hmm: Please pretty please... :) !

The books called Damaged Goods (by Russell T. Davies) been out of print for ages - going for £34 upwards on amazon:eek:

Good job I spotted it going (extra) cheap on the local market

^ but what about Data saying shit?

oh and one of the Andrew Cartmel Doctor Who new adventures (one of the War something ones, forget which was which) had a magic mushroom type fungus that was realy an alien inteligence and people's consciouness being projected into animals in a research lab. Also doesn't the 7th Doctor take acid in order to commune with an alien/aztec 'god' in Kate Orman's Left Handed Humming bird?
