crappest tabloid columnist?

There are a lot of horrible drivel merchants to choose from across both tabloids and broadsheets - one of my least favourite people is the bile-filled-sorry-excuse for a human being Simon Heffer, who now spews his vitriol in the Torygraph. Glover, Littlejohn, Mad Mel, Peter "the Tories are lefty scum" Hitchens, Jimmy effin Young, the slimy toad McKinstry, Gary "definitely not a crypto-fascist" Bushell, Richard and bleeding Judy, Neil Hamilton FFS, etc etc etc AArgh!

The worst thing about them is that it takes a great effort after reading any of them, or even just thinking about them, not to fall into hateful and negative thought patterns yourself.
I will have to go away and cleanse my brain and think positive healthy thoughts to purge the negativity of just thinking about this shower and their perpetual journalistic war on progress, social justice, fairness and respect for basic facts.:(

All too true

Isn't he ex-SWP? Certainly an ex-lefty.

The man is well odd. Yes he was once left wing and got threatened and attacked by nazis. Yet i have never seen an interview with him yet that explains WHY he turned. A very strange character who once sued Searchlight for claiming he was a nazi yet he sounds like the typical little englander

I don't think these people need a reason. Whether they're far lefties or far righters, especially the ones who go from one extreme to another, seems to be a statement more about their characters than any true 'belief'. They are just 'look at me' screaming infants throwing a wobbly to get attention.
That's all it is to them.

Aye you could be right, you gotta be pretty shallow to change like that, i suspected it was because Murdoch had the money so he had to toe the line....a careerist....but its quite bizarre that if he HAS changed his views , that he can't tell us why!

OK I know it's not a tabloid journalist thing but this Sunday morning there was a piece about the Anarchist Bookfair on the BBC Radio 4 'Broadcasting House' programme. I don't think it really took the event seriously though.

This illustrates a particular problem when it comes to journalists reporting about radical political events. Although the recent Climate Change camps seem to have been reasonably well reported. Any views anybody?

Since I consider the Daily Mail as bad as any tabloid, worse in fact, at least the tabloids have a gleaming red top alerting you to their naffness while the mail pretends to be a serious paper. Mad Mel Philips pips it for me, especially with the recent bile of an article in the spectator about how 'militant atheism' caused the financial crisis.

Ha ha ha ha - did she really argue that? Hahahaha.

"Have faith dear children, the holy markets will provide. If only the banks had trusted in God. These leftists are the spawn of demons, crawling out of Sheol...."

Hahahaha:)

Mad Mel said:
I see this financial breakdown, moreover, as being not merely a moral crisis but the monetary expression of the broader degradation of our values – the erosion of duty and responsibility to others in favour of instant gratification, unlimited demands repackaged as ‘rights’ and the loss of self-discipline. And the root cause of that erosion is ‘militant atheism’ which, in junking religion, has destroyed our sense of anything beyond our material selves and the here and now and, through such hyper-individualism, paved the way for the onslaught on bedrock moral values expressed through such things as family breakdown and mass fatherlessness, educational collapse, widespread incivility, unprecedented levels of near psychopathic violent crime, epidemic drunkenness and drug abuse, the repudiation of all authority, the moral inversion of victim culture, the destruction of truth and objectivity and a corresponding rise in credulousness in the face of lies and propaganda -- and intimidation and bullying to drive this agenda into public policy.

Yep indeed she did.

Word, aul Mad Mel is pretty hateful, seems to think Obama's the spawn of Satan

I think we should have an e-mail campaign calling on Mel to lead a heroic campaign against godless usury, selfish "hyper-individualism" and "lies and propaganda"!;)
Don't think she'd find much support for it at the Mail or the Spectator though:D

Clarkston is a right twat but he is at least talented, i think some of them musta just got their jobs calculated on the amount of years they did at Uni (which probably implies total subservience to the proprietor)

Mussolini :D

I think Tony Parsons and Lorraine Kelly are related, soooo alike in being utterly utterly talentless....

How did someone who's been through the punk scene end up preaching a load of vague Tory shit?

You can take the boy out of Essex, but you can't kick the Essex out of the boy, trev.

Was it not after he got into Oi, the musical recruiting ground of the far right?

Sorry, guys, but that Gaunt column seems pretty reasonable to me. Not saying I agree with it - but it looks like a perfectly reasonable argument to put forward.
