there was a fabric shop off Rye Lane (well it was there when i was at uni there 4 years ago) its a tiny alladins cave stuffed full of haberdashing things.
If you walk down Rye Lane from the East Dulwich end it would be on your left hand side before the cinema.
Oh my word! I popped down to Fabric in East Dulwich in my lunch hour today - what an excellent shop! Small but perfectly formed. They haven't got heaps of fabric but what they have is really well-chosen and interesting, and covers a very wide range. And they have beautiful knitting wool I've never seen before.
I'm glad to hear that it's still open, I went down about a month ago and it looked like they were about to shut up shop, maybe they were just having a clear out.
just adding my tuppence worth - there is a really good shop for fabrics and all things crafty on balham rd (nearer to tooting bec) called, ironically The Sewing Centre They usually have really good remanents bins too
Do you mean the Wimbledon Sewing Machine Centre? They are good... but when I was there recently I thought they'd gone downhill. I didn't mention shops over that way because they wouldn't answer Tanky's question, but for completeness of this thread, there are lots of good fabric shops further down the road in Tooting and stalls in Tooting Market.
yeah thought it may be a trek i keep wanting to go there myself but I know I'd be there for hours specially so close to tooting shops too
Thanks ruby - always was a bit useless with names...
