Good news, jammy friends. I am now the proud owner of a preserving pan and jam funnel, donated to me by a lovely work colleague (thank you Iris). It belonged to her Mum, apparently.

I've just found out that my lil brother's new place has 2 plum trees
Got my fingers crossed that they ripen before he leaves (end of August) so I can go a gathering... anyone fancy plum jam?
I am jealous I missed jam making. When is next craft club outing - point me to the thread if there's one. I'm on here so rarely these days that every time I see one it's already passed me by. Although jam was forsaken for Glasto, so that was also ok, I guess...
Incidentally I did look up reduced sugar jam recipes on the web, but wasn't very convinced by anything I found. In the process I did come across the interesting snippet of information that the Victorians got most of their vitamin C from jam.

It's just not as flavoursome IMO. It's only marginally better than shop, whereas the raspberry is miles ahead. It may be that we didn't put enough lemon in, or too much sugar, or the strawbs weren't as good as they could have been, or something else, who knows?
