Crack Pledge

the only chance at stopping the displacement effect is to have input from all over town.
Good point. Then perhaps we can begin to work out a sustainable strategy, rather than playing crackhead pingpong.

Out of the people on the list I know of at least one on the east side of Brixton, east of the railway line, and at least one on the west side in the Acre Lane area. We seem to have a fair number too in the Kellett/Rushcroft/Saltoun area and in the centre. We seem to be missing anyone on the north side (Stockwell Park Estate or Myatts Fields South) or in the Moorlands / Guiness estates on the south east side.

Myatts Fields South

Has anyone got contacts for the people who were opposing the Myatts Field sell off? I saw one of them give a talk a couple of months back but cant remember his name. They seemed quite well organised so might have a good contact list?

Nope. I do have some contacts on Myatts Fields I'll dig out though - as it happens they are part of the lobbying in favour of the development.

Name the List

I've got hold of the domain mybrixton.org to run the pledge mailing list, but the list needs a name. Any ideas?

The pledge is 10 over target and there are more people from outside central Brixton signed up! So now seems like a pretty good time to start the whole thing going.

I'm going to get things setup tonight (in advance of the Beat meeting next week). The pledge will remain open and I'll add any new signups as and when. You can also PM if you want to be added for the list lauch.

What are the details of the meeting?

Welcome. :)

I suspect the Ritzy are being a bit evasive because they don't want to have to spend any money. I would love to be proved wrong.

Latest I've heard is that the Ritzy are claiming it'll cost £10,000 to fix the alcoves and they can't afford it!

Not sure but seeing as I only live round the corner I'll pitch up on the off chance. Two other local residents I've mentioned it to had no idea about the place, which isn't surprising seeing as I've never seen it open. Is this it's first meeting? Opening aside of course.

Ive never seen it open either so it might be. IntoStella seemed pretty certain it was on. I'm gonna give it a go anyway.

Its definitly on according to the Town Centre Office. :)
I'm told that it went ahead and was "very successful" - any feedback from anyone who was there? I believe that another one is going to be organised for Rushcroft residents. Any takers?

It was a bit of a gate crash as it turned out it was supposed to be for Saltoun residents only, but it ended up with Electric Avenue and Rushcroft there too. It worked well as it made for a bigger residents presence so we got an idea of what was going on elsewhere.

Ive got notes which I can forward you. (Are you on the mailing list setup after this pledge?)
