There's a bloke who sells them in pubs in South East London along with cockles and whelks - what kind of a freak wants to eat that soort of thing with seven pints of lager in them?

You laugh, but there used to be a stall selling cockles, whelks and eels parked outside a pub just round the corner from my rugby team at the time. And people used to travel from miles around - from Essex in a good few instances for christsakes - to come and indulge in this cockney speciality.

I tried to like them, I really did. But they just tasted of slimey nastiness, albeit with a hefty vinegar kick.

there used to be a fish man that came round the pubs in eastville in brizzle when i lived there about 10 years ago. He was once attacked and covered in thousand island dressing, till me and some mates jumped to his defense. the defense of the fishman remains one of my finest hours I think.

The bloke that used to do that in Preston in the late 80's / early 90's is now a Labour MP :)

Back to crab sticks - love them but do recognise it's a shameful habit :o
