Covers which are better than the original

Johny Cash's version of Broken, miles better than that plastic NIN crap

Do you mean 'Hurt'? I like it but I don't think it beats the NIN version - knowing Trent felt those lyrics just makes it that bit better for me.

Faith No More's version of War Pigs.

My mate thinks I'm scum for preferring it over Black Sabbath's but tough.

1000 homo DJs version of Supernaut was also top notch.

(Nativity in Black is my all time favourite album though, I think everything on it 10/10.)

Cash obviously felt them quite deeply too though, otherwise he wouldn't have covered it & made such an amazingly emotional music video to go with it.

True but IMO he couldn't have felt them as deeply as the person who wrote them. If I remember correctly Trent was talking about his heroin addiction in that song.

St Etienne's version of Only Love can Break Your Heart is much better than Neil Youngs.

That's not better, it's exactly the same!

But Mr.Cash was a drug crazed mentalist in his own time.

Harrumph!

Each to their own - my idolatry of the WS precludes any cover versions :D

These are brilliant cover versions that stand up in their own right but wouldn't go as far to say that they better the originals.

My vote goes to The Murderer 'Mind Over Money' (Junglistic Elbow cover) :D

mind over money was surely by turin breaks?

or am i wrong?

I,m probably gonna get dissed for this but I think UK SUBS version of 'She's not there' is better than the original which is by The Troggs?

Deffo. Top version.

Also 'Nights in White Satin' by The Dickies and 'Jealous guy' by Roxy Music.
