Covers which are better than the original

Nostalgia 77 and Alice Russell's version of Seven Nation Army is better than the original.

These two were on the Jo Whiley show a few years ago: Elbow do Charlie's Angels by Destiny's Child, and The Flaming Lips do Kylie Minogue's I can't Get You Out Of My Head

The album Pentaris Metamorphosis by Global Communication is a re-working of a Chapterhouse album - but I suspect this may be pushing the definition of 'cover' a bit too far. Class album, though.

These are brilliant cover versions that stand up in their own right but wouldn't go as far to say that they better the originals.

My vote goes to The Murderer 'Mind Over Money' (Junglistic Elbow cover) :D

Whiskey in the Jar by Metallica, miles better than the jangly crap originals. Also Astronomy by them is better than the Blue Oyster Cunts hippy version...

I,m probably gonna get dissed for this but I think UK SUBS version of 'She's not there' is better than the original which is by The Troggs?

The only decent song off "Radiodread" is Let Down with toots & the maytals and it's a great tune - turned completely uplifting :)

Whilst I'm a HUUUUGE fan of the original, I have to say that Pantera's version of

Planet Caravan

was a touch better than the Black Sabbath original.

there is no better version of "can't get you out of my head" than kylie's version.

Utter bollocks.

The Nirvana unplugged cover of 'The Man who sold the world' was pretty amazing - and that's high praise coming from a Bowie freak like me.:)

Following that it's 'Dub Side of the Moon' any/everytime for me over 'Dark Side ...' :D

Not sure it's better but Tainted Love by Soft Cell was a superb cover version.

As was Money by the Flying Lizards.

Sacrilege!

Cash's versions of Rusty Cage, Hurt and Desperado

I reckon Marilyn Manson's version of Tainted Love was the best...

I heard Jamelia cover 'Numb' by Linkin Park & it's truly fantastic, maybe because I think the original is so mediocre....
