Much better than Elvis.
just been intorduced to the celtic pink floyd.
not yet decided what i think of them but it should appeal to me given my musical tastes - may be better when not sober though
Excellent. I see he hasn't cheered up since last i came across him.
Now i have to go dig the original out. And hurt my throat trying to sing along.
I loathe the original, but love this version.
The Johnstons are essentially forgotten these days, but in Ireland in the late 60s and early 70s they were a really big act. They started out doing Irish trad, and moved on to folk-rock (though they were more New Seekers than Fairport Convention).
Anyway, my Da was a fan. Here's their cover of Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now:
(It's my Da posing on the left of the crashed plane at 2:42)
And here's Joni singing her song herself:
I like The Stranglers but I'm going with Dionne on that one.
Isn't Creep already a cover of a hollies song?
I also like Rolf Haris' cover of Prince Charming.
Al Bowlly doing Bing Crosby's My Woman:
You'll probably know the trumpet intro from a couple of places - no cheating and looking at the youtube comments!
Puttin a load of swing n soul into a tune I would never otherwise listen to
Andy Rehfeldt's polka version of the Beautiful People.
Sister Ray is actually my favourite song so any cover shouldl really be an insult, but actually this one has got it's own good thing going on:
The sisters should have been hung, drawn and quartered for that!
Talking Floyd, I love the laid back dark side by The Easy All Stars ( Dub Side Of The Moon )
You go on the list
Metallica have done lots of great covers, but for something a little more classy ( feel free to join in )....
is better than
step it up a level:
And the bad (and ugly)
Laibachs version of Sympathy For The Devil was amazing
- Aww, this is so cute... Björk as a kid
Have we had this yet?
It's not better, but it is as good as, in a different way.
Probably better than
Young Gods version of Did You Miss Me. It's a little bit Fritzl.
