Short notice I know but I have 2 tickets to Surrey vs Sussex in the T20 on Sunday that I can not use now.

Just the general admission £20 ones.

If anyone wants them PM me and I will email them over. If you are feeling inclined make a small donation to the server fund or to macmillan nurses. Or have a cold beer and cheers me.

Bad boy Ollie (Robinson) does it again. 41 off 37 balls in a last wicket partnership of 32 (of which Briggs got 3*) to see Sussex home by 1 wicket against Glamorgan. This is the man who scored a century on debut a couple of years ago in a last wicket stand of 160+ against Durham. How do we motivate him? Stick him in the 2nd XI all season. He got 7 wickets in the match as well.

Thought we had Sussex on that last wicket but fairplay to Robinson.

Sounded like a great match up Colwyn Bay with an encouraging performance from a young, near enough 2nd XI Glamorgan side. Carey had a decent outting with the ball, Cullen and Carlson had decent enough knocks along with Meschede.

Hopefully those rested will get us through the first game at finals day on Saturday and maybe bag our first honours since before I could legally buy a beer. Sadly won't be at Edgbaston to see it if they do as I've already got tickets for the football in Cardiff.

Good luck to Glamorgan. It's been a long time since they've done, well, anything. :D I for one hope they continue the tradition of the 'little clubs who shouldn't exist' winning the Blast.

Notts complete a white ball double by beating Brum in the T20 final
And likely to win the second division. A perfect season for them. Samit Patel's been central to most of the good things they've been doing in all three formats. England could have done worse than picking him for number 5 in the tests.

Patel's had a fantastic season. His fitness was an issue when he was playing for England a couple of years ago, but he's just a naturally big lad I think. He's in better form than some of the people who have made the test side this summer.

He's certainly a better batsman and probably a better bowler than Liam Dawson for starters. I don't think there's any room in 'Team England' any more for anyone who's a bit different in any way or doesn't tick all the fitness boxes even if he produces the goods on the field. Mark Footitt went on the last tour of South Africa but didn't pay a Test and was never given another chance - I wouldn't be surprised if his being a smoker was a factor in that. Never mind the fact that he was a left arm pace bowler capable of 90mph and took stacks of Championship wickets for three years without missing a match.

So us three fighting for title lats season now fighting to avoid last relegation spot. Possible suggestion of more middlesex deductions due to not being v clever with pitch.

Hamed just made a 56 ball, 70 minute 4 (lancs now 39-3). Yorks and Middlesex must be getting a bit sweaty. Essex pretty happy.
He's just got to 50 second inns after a similarly slow start. That does seem to be his method - stay in for an hour and then start looking to score a bit more after that. Looks bad if he gets out after an hour, looks good if he stays in for three hours.

Last games will be the decider but not looking too good for Somerset ATM with us scraping a win and Middlesex winning too. If

Definitely not looking good for Somerset now. Need to beat Mids and get more bonus point than them and/or for Hamps to lose/draw to Warks.

Somerset vs Middx was always looking like the decider. If they win, the inevitable bonus points will give them what they need to surpass the current 16 pt differential to overhaul Middx. Weather looks good for next week so it's in their own hands. Mind you, one of their bowlers (Trego?) went off injured today.

It's not inevitable that they'll get more bonus points even if they win a relatively close contest. Hants got two more bonus points than Essex in their defeat last week. If the first innings scores are say, Somerset 295 and Middx 305 and Somerset win, they'll still finish below Middx.

Whilst I'd feel a certain amount of glee if Middx or Yorks went down I don't think it's good for cricket if the counties that lose the most players to the England teams end up in Division 2, so for purely cricketing reasons I hope it's Hants. They were the dullest and most attritional team in last year's Division 1 and only stayed up due to the harsh penalties meted out to Durham, then they strengthened their side by signing ridiculous numbers of overseas players via various loopholes. Their XI for the Championship match at The Oval in July contained just four England-qualified players with three South Africans, two Aussies, a Zimbabwean and a West Indian. None of these players are available for England selection, so even if they're scoring hundreds and taking stacks of wickets every week they're available to Hants for the whole season.

Absolutely this. And the way they piled in after discovering that Durham were going down when they themselves are in just as much debt was disgusting. Fuck Hampshire.

Unfortunately, they're unlikely to go down. Will need them to lose and Somerset to win.
