County cricket 2009

and all done with half our seam attack unable to bowl in the fourth innings

*faints in sheer disbelief*

Leicestershire bowled out for 133 at Bristol after reaching 83/0  Anthony Ireland 6/31

Whilst I accept it could all go very wrong in this match, I'm stunned at the change effected by John Bracewell so early in the season

Good performance by Glamorgan again today - Kent bowled out for 282. Looking much better this season.

Glos are now 160/5 with Alex Gidman having scored 88 of those

We aint steamrolling sides but we appear to be competitive for the first time in years :)

Incidentally, the FP Trophy quarter finals are very close to the ODI at Bristol and with the international teams having use of the ground for the two days before hand, should Gloucestershire finish top of our group, we would have to give up home advantage for the quarter final.

So that was well planned then

Glos win again by ten wickets against Leicestershire :) Wait 20 months for a win then two come along at once :D

Top of the league :)

spent the day watching us demolish Durham in the FP Trophy

top of that league too :)

In all the varied experiences county cricket has to offer, nothing satisfies quite so much as beating Yorkshire

especially beating Yorkshire twice in just over a week

five out of five, almost (but not quite) qualified for the quarter final

if we played on the cricket equivalent of a six a side court, we'd have a massive run rate too

you could get two of your mini grounds into ours

:)

Actually, I still marvel at how massive our boundaries are sometimes. The playing area we use for games is probably about 20% bigger than that you'll see at the Bristol ODI, the temp stands use up a lot of our outfield.

Anyway, apparently the BEP reckons we may stand a chance of getting a potential home QF in the FP Trophy moved, which is good. Would be ridiculously unfair if we had to cede home advantage just because England are using the ground

May try to get along to a Gloucs game or two this summer, tried a couple of 1-dayers and some of the evening Twenty20s last year and most seemed to get rained off. The ones I did see were abject. Glad to see it seems to be picking up.

I caught a bit of the Roses Twenty20, and Yorkshire had what looked like Jason behind the stumps. Not a good look.

A quick google suggests he's worn it for a while, not that I see much of Yorkshire down this way.

If it's supposed to intimidate the batsman surely the bowler should wear it.

Anyway, that's it. Rashid looked a tidy bowler, wicket in his first over, but had no runs to play with.

Incensed  How the fuck do you lose a 20/20 game by the D/L method. Kent were ahead on the par score after 8 overs yet the game wasnt stopped, bear in mind the D/L was brought in because half the floodlights at Hove werent working. Surely Sussex should have forfeited the game. But after 10 overs when Kent were behind the umpires stopped play. WTF. Since when was light offered to the fielding side.
The result of tonights game was decided by the umpires not the players.

I didn't watch the whole game but thought kent had it wrapped up and was shocked that kent lost???? Odd rules. Why play it so late anyway?
