Great sleeve. :)

At first glance, a bit of a concept album; each song apparently being about a different city.

Includes (It's A Long Way To) London Town, which starts with the chimes of Big Ben but then goes on to mention 'nearly marrying a kangaroo'... :D

Another concept album (-and a collaboration with Shel Silverstein), this time about poverty amid the 70's economic recession. Maybe no surprise to read that it apparently wasn't a particularly huge seller at the time...

I think he looks a bit like a cross between Leonard Rossiter and Paul Kaye. :D

Jesus, now I'm getting REALLY jealous... Buck Owens and Bobby Bare and not bad albums either. Bare had a couple of sizeable hits off that one iirc before he went a bit maudlin and then cheesy as in (Pour Me Another) Tequila Shiela.

That was some find for fifty quid. ENJOY!!!

it's up & down. and i've an awful lot of shite here too... :D

we'll expect a mix for the mixes thread once you've sorted the wheat from the chaff.

This one seems strangely out of place amongst the rest, verging as it does on the more 'hippy rock' side of country.

Despite being a potentially dangerous gateway album to the likes of The Grateful Dead, it still sounds pretty good to me.

A UK release on legendary budget label Hallmark. The only date on it is 1959, but this has surely got to be a later repackaging...

A proper religious album, this one. I like the cover though; good angle.

1981 reissue on Charly, but it's the same striking sleeve. :)

My slap-dash phone photography is looking rather wonky on this one. :o

Dodgy album cover, and tbh, I can't say I much rate the music on this one either. (-Country and synths: the nightmare scenario... :D)

However, Hargus 'Pig' Robbins deserves a mention for being one of the most prolific and in-demand session players in country music. Look at the small print of so many albums, and there he is on keyboards. Respect due.

(-This album's cover is notable though due to the title being also printed in braille. I guess this is to do with Pig apparently having been blind since a nasty accident with his daddy's knife when he was three years old...:()
