Oh, and The Albert had/have a very light coloured lager (can't remember the name) which is well expensive.

Hogaarden.

It's lovely but so expensive.

I ended up in a posh pub once and paid £4 for a pint of Hogaarden

There's debate as to whether the Hogaarden pint glasses are a bit bigger than normal pint glasses. They are shorter but a fair bit wider. Does anyone know?

My beloved Holt's bitter has gone up to £1.40, but their mild is still £1.30. Other breweries' bitter is nearer the 2 quid mark, though.

Hoegarden pints are standard pints. However, I remember when it first came out, there were promotional 2 pint glasses that were absolutely huge.

IPA at £2.30 in the albert suits me nicely at teh mo. Change from a fiver for two drinks is just handy :)

they're the same size - just thicker glass.

i was in a pub recently that had obviously had some sort of hoegaarden training session on that afternoon for the staff - they'd left loads of marketing shite around... there was very little on the marketing about the quality or taste of the beer, only about how it apeals to 'young professionals' who are 'adventurous', and are prepared to pay more for the experience of drinking out of their shitty vases. made my blood boil, it did.

fortunately, the same pub had some 7% ginger beer, brewed at a brew pub round the corner. so i was happy. :)

£2.80 in my Brixton Youngs local for what I drink. £3.05 for a Stella though - mind you It's actually a good excuse to stear clear of the stuff!

Mind you, I was in a Youngs boozer in Wandsworth Town on Saturday afternoon and the wankers asked for £6.45 for a Starparoman & a Fosters, FFS

in cardiff's town centre it's prolly between 2.40 and 2.75 for pishy shite like Carling, and between 2.65 and 3.35 for the premium brands. Needless to say, I sit drinking Oranjeboom, but it's in a proper tidy (and nicked) Hoegaarden glass.

p.s.

Nah, they don't hold more than a pint. I tried and now I've got wet naughty bits - ooh, how twee!

£2.50 - £2.70 for Grolsh/Kronenburg where I usually drink in Wolverhampton. Some places it's a bit cheaper.

where I live in Essex I can get a pint of lager for £1.50. :)

Trouble is I drink far more often in Central London where it is £2.70+

£2.05 in my local (Sheffield)

cheapest I know of is £1.35 in town (Brown Bear on Norfolk St, a sam Smiths pub). I keep going in there and thinking they've forgotten to charge for half the drinks.

2 pint glasses are called Stiens iirc, I used to drink in a firkin pub that did stiens of dogbolter... very dangerous

I didn't know that about hoegarden glasses! I'd always thought they were larger, maybe half a litre. That's a bit of a con isn't it?

It would be, since half a litre is less than a (UK) pint!

There's no way I'll pay over £3 for a pint in a pub. I know that's standard fares in live venues and clubs, but not in my fucking local! Unless the beer truly is something special - not just Hoegaarden.

Its about £2.90 for Kronenbourg in the wee pub next to my work. It does vary in Brighton, my local local is about £2.70. Still f*cking shocking though.

MY nearest pub is £2.50 a pint but my adopted local charges £2.30. I am talking about beer (nitro-keg is all they have) not lager. I don't care how much they charge for lager. I am a social member of a nearby sports club that serves proper draught beer for less than the above but it is not a pub and lacks atmosphere since they modernised it.
