Correlation between weight loss and drops in dress size?

And if I do lose weight from my thighs it's actually muscle and I kill myself next time I get on my bike. (which is what has just happened after a several days of hardly eating and not cycling :()

This is because if you hardly eat the body goes into starvation mode, ie it's programmed by nature to store the fat as priority and lose the muscle first. Crash diets never give good results.

Regarding dress sizes and weight loss it varies as many people store fat in higher proportions in different areas of the body. I know people who have the most fat on their legs and thighs but if they lose weight it seems that they have dropped a couple of dress sizes because fat has come off the waist when there wasn't that much there to start with.

I know others who have really skinny legs but quite a deposit of fat on the stomach and upper body, this is where it can be dangerous as there's more of a chance that they are carrying visceral fat.

Surely height must play a factor too. i.e. a tall woman would need to lose more weight to drop a size than a short one.

:hmm: Yup, at 6ft 1" I've dropped a couple of stone in the last couple of years - but have only gone from a 'large' size 18, verging on 20 to a 'largish' size 16 on my bottom half. Top half has stayed pretty consistently at a size 14, occasionally 16.

ah - the bigger you are, the more weight there is between dress sizes.

Absolutely - see above! Am now determined to get to small 16 on the bottom half - a 14 if I'm doing really really well. And that's it. I love my food too much to ever get any lower! :D

Hmmm, the cm/inches thing makes sense

I'll have to lose about three feet to get into a normal size :D

actually, loosing 17 stone of useless weight last year has helped me shift some off my backside.

i bought a size 18 dress today.

I've reached that point again where me and the mirror aren't on good terms. I'm also fed up with the clothes available in my size and am looking enviously at the 'normal' sizes.

So, my question is - is there an equation regarding weight loss and subsequent drop in dress size? i.e. 2 stone = 1 drop in dress size

I'd quite like to be somewhere on the normal scale by Glastonbury

:hmm:

I'd be wary of this because you could exercise and tone up and reduce in size but not lose very much weight if you are for example building muscle. This is why I do not weigh as it just does my head in!

I know when I have lost weight cos my bras always fit better and like you its the first place it goes!

for me, it's not my boobs, alhtough i'm breastfeeding atm, so i'm not expecting them to shrink right now, it's my chest measurement and my waist that shrink first.

what i need it to be is my backside and my thighs.

Ugh, and what to do with the excess skin afterwards?

That's what I'm contemplating now. I know I'll have a very saggy baby tummy once I've lost the weight (despite never having been pregnant), and probably quite a bit of excess skin on my thights, bum and maybe even arms. So all that losing weight, I'll fit into smaller clothes, but still not be able to wear anything vaguely revealing and still feel shit naked.

But at least I *hopefully* won't die of a heart attack or stroke. Every cloud.

^^^

All of the above AND I'll lose my tits :(

See how we can turn the idea of losing weight into a bad thing :D
:D

I do feel somewhat painted into a corner though. I look shit naked now, I'll look shit naked with saggy skin. I'll look better in clothes but I'll look older. I feel it's a bit of a lose-lose tbf.

But won't you only have that if you lose the weight really quickly? If it's a steady loss then your skin should change with your shape shouldn't it? Skin is elastic no? :hmm:

Less death possibilities though. That's one for the pro column, shirley?

I lost 6 stone over about 18 months. I had saggy belly skin. How slow is slow? I've put it all back on now, btw, and, strangely, although weighing what I weighed before I lost it before, I'm a size bigger than before, and am actually fatter :hmm:

Not sure.. I only seem to be able to shift a stone in a year if I try really hard! :D

I think I'm quite lucky in that when I put on weight it seems to be spread evenly. It's fatface I can't stand though. People who don't put on weight in their face are really lucky.

Actually I think it may be my chest rather then my boobs as a few people have commented that I look slimmer there then I did before I got rid of my car:)

LOL! I was going to say 'wow that's amazing weightloss' til I twigged what you meant! Good for you! :D:cool:

I stay (almost) the same size even though my weight goes up and down by about half a stone. Maybe I'm always going to be 'chubby':D

You're not fucking chubby even when your weight is 'up'

Chubby :D

Ha I've seen pics of Zenie and she's definitely not chubby, and everyone has been saying that Madzone doesn't need to lose weight too.

The thing is, everyone has their own level of what they are comfortable with, it's alright people saying 'you're not fat don't be silly!' and it's nice, but when I feel fat, I feel fat, and there's not much people can do to make me change my mind.

madz isn't thin, any more than I am, she's just not the beached whale she tries to make out on here sometimes.

I know people have their own perceptions of whether their fat or not. Not sure I'm trying to change her mind, but if my mate thinks she's chubby and she's blatantly not then I'm going to tell her.

Well it's just I see other people wear a larger dress size, yet I still look bigger than them!:o:D
:mad::D

(in your eyes only darlin')
