Corn on the cob

Blimey - six minutes max. You don't want it too soft and whathaveyou.

Six minutes wouldn't work here.

I'm beginning to think that our corn cobs are bigger than yours.

Ours are about 12-18 inches in length. Yours?

btw - it's not a nasty question, i just like knowing how different things are there vs here (or vis-versa)

I used Story's method: a bit of oil, wrapped on foil, baked for 30 mins at Gas 5. Then served with butter.

Was tasty but a bit firmer than I was expecting.

I spent the rest of the evening with bits stuck in my teeth.

That's what toothpicks are for ;)

btw - congrats on your 21,000 post - totally awesome!!!!

Tip from my parents: in a little saucer, mix some chilli and salt. Cut a lemon in half, and put the cut side down into the chilli and salt mix. Squeeze the lemon over the corn.

We mainly do it for boiled mogo/cassava, but it works well for corn too.

Yeah I think you could be right - I don't have one handy to measure, but I reckon more like 20-25 cm generally - so, what, 9 in or so? I imagine you have more, err, girth as well...

Ours generally aren't that big - I get the impression that the ones in the UK are smaller and more tender... they don't tend to be genetically modified either ;)
