"Coraline" - Stop motion childrens horror fantasy, based on Gaiman book, in stereo 3D

I've got no kids this weekend and I'm thinking of going to see this on my own tomorrow (in 3D) Is that a bit sad or mean? :hmm:

definitely not sad, dunno about the mean bit, do your kids really want to go? :D

I tried to get my girl to come along with me to see this, but she was having none of it

The middle one might have liked it but he knows I'm going on my own now and is cool about it. The youngest thinks it would be too scary. I said to them that I was either going to see coraline or star trek and they both went 'You can't see star trek without us!!!!' :D

My eldest would probably like it but he's hard to track down

Ah well, just have to watch Monsters vs Aliens instead then.

There's loads of knowing-jokes in that for the growed-ups apparently, and lots of depth-of-field-3d-delight to be had n'all.:)

The 3d in Monsters gave me a headache.

Fucking ace film!! I took some perception enhancing chemicals beforehand but even without this film is beautiful, the combination of stop motion and CGI works great, and while keeping the story as the main focus of the film the 3D aspect works excellently.

It was a bit scary though, I'd recommend it for 10yo+. Not just the story but some of the visuals as well, cobwebs on faces and falling down horrible 3D spiderweb tunnels

It was £40 for four of us though, is that normal at cinemas now?

Depends where you go. Peckham is dirt cheap - under a fiver. otherwise we only go to the ritzy on wednesdays now - 2 for 1 with an orange phone

This looks nothing like the picture I had in my head when I was reading the book. Not sure if I want to see it, tbh. But probably will.
