Cops to Strike??

Why limit your scaremongering to Tasers then? Why not go the whole hog and say it's only a matter of time before PCSOs are issue with guns?

I think it may be only a matter of time before PCSOs are "converted" into police constables.

I really don't think I'd like to see a privatised one.
There are a whole load of things which could be done perfectly well by properly trained / supervised / monitored private companies. At present those doing it (e.g. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4772537.stm) tend to use ex-officers but things like gaoler duties and prisoner transport have been privatised to firms using non-ex police staff such as GSL and Reliance. House-to-house enquiries have been done by teams of ex-officers in Surrey, CCTV footage is routinely viewed by ex-officers, interview tapes are transcribed (by ex-officers and others), etc., etc.).

There are big dangers when the big, non-specialist service-provider companies like Capita and SERCO start to get involved and that is where I try to bring influence to bear.

Nooooooooooo. 80% of cops said they approved of breaking the law....

Just because they are cops, they don't have to be honest all the time you know. They ain't stupid are they? If they all said "Don't worry...we'll never strike unless the law is changed" - it isn't going to get them a pay rise any quicker than threatening to strike, is it?

bullies and blackmailers innit. should be held personally responsible for all the crimes that happen while they're on strike. people could die you know.
