Coolest "Spook"

I like the first couple of series, but the heart, soul and pathos has gradually drained away. I passed on most of the last series, but tried to watch it again last night - and it simply jarred. Maybe (or maybe not) since MacFadyen left, 'Spooks' has deferred charisma and humanity in favour of the derivative and hackneyed. I can't relate to any of these characters. I hate the world they inhabit. And I'm nauseated by those pretentious 'fast motion walking' shots they shoehorn into every other scene in an attempt to emulate the similarly pleased-with-itself 'Hustle'.

I have a sneaking suspicion she might be back at some point...

Characters like Ruth are the sort of subtle, nuanced characters that I'm afraid you just don't get in the US programmes. I enjoy a lot of US TV - CSI and Lost in particular - but IMO Spooks has the edge on that sort of thing. The stories may be silly, but the characters are real.

(I should also say that I didn't watch the episode on BBC3 last night, so have no idea if this is the case or not).

I dunno, having not seen the episode myself, I'm only going by hearsay, but I'd expect her to keep her clothes on, or at least be placed more discreetly. Sorry guys

start of what looks like a very good 2-parter.

I'm enjoying this series much more than series 4 so far.
