Cool things in pretty rubbish films

Yes - see my comments on the thread. I didn't even like Star Trek before, but in my humble, it's one of the best films of its type (space opera/science fantasy - but that will disappoint trek purists) I've seen and possibly even better than the original star wars films.

I'm not touching that thread. I've remained unusually pure of spoilers for this film, despite the fact that almost everyone I know has seen it already.

Loved Wall-E :D

and IMAX !!!....brilliant visual effects.

Hmm. I am tempted by the visual effects, but the Wall-E liking counts against you. Not as a person, you understand, but as someone who likes the same movies as me. (Wall-E's one of my most hated films ever. Hey, there's a thread that hasn't been done in at least a week!)

hehehe, im sure we can get past this difference of opinions, its just one film. :)

definitely go for the IMAX though for Star Trek, well imo do, it made me jump around in my seat a little and 'get involved' ha. A regular ole cinema viewing wouldnt have done that! ;)

Ooh - where is the original post/thread then?

I liked it, but of course I can understand people being indifferent to, or indeed "not liking" Wall-E, but it's a pretty big leap from that to "most hated film ever" and I am now intrigued!

:D

can I just say that (and I do realise this will probably destroy me forever as far as forum credibility goes) I quite enjoyed Love Actually, for what it was.

Sir we've found a suitable donor for your testicles, since, y'know you're not using them.

It seems that we have similar taste in films. Considering that, have you seen the latest Star Trek yet? Any good? I'll go and see it anyway, but am deciding between imax and normal cinema. This is a vital decision.

(If Firky were still on here, I'd ask him, because he's one of the few people I know of - apart from my GF and my best friend - who didn't like Wall-E).

'Which poster do you share taste in films with' is a good question. I'd say generally it was either The Groke (despite my disagreement with him over Star Trek, although he didn't actually dislike it, just thought it was a good laugh and not the epochal film I firmly believe it to be) or Kid Eternity.

Wow. I have never actually forgotten a complete film before, but I don't remember either of those moments, and I'm not doubting you that they were in there. All I remember from watching it is ' God, what a crap film!' The rest has been blocked out of my memory, as traumatic experiences often are.

Pretty sure I didn't imagine the scenes?? Arnie carries out a load of guns in a coffin at some point, definitely, I think they were stored at Sarah Conner's tomb or something, and the son goes gun-shoppin' there. I think anyway? There's that big gun room full of shit so it might be there, in the desert. I swear there's a shoot out when Arnie's carrying the guns!

Also, the shape-shifter terminator definitely does that shit with the traffic cop who pulls her over... her breasts suddenly balloon a fair bit. Shit I hope I didn't imagine that scene too! ;) :D

Anyway it's a crap film and I can't be bothered to rewatch it to prove m'self wrong, ignore me if i'm talkin bollocks!!

(((((Wall-E))))) btw... :(

Desperado is an overacted and badly scripted film (although I still love it for that)

The only to good bits are Quentin Tarrantino being shot in the face (my god I hate that man) and the scene with the "guitars" at the end.

cough*SalmaHayeknaked*cough

Going back to T3, it has the best ending scenes of any Terminator film so far (watching the warheads arc towards their targets and explode in an almost beautiful pattern beats Arnie's thumbs up -pukes- anyday)

actually - emma thompson's grief on discovering what alan rickman's been up to in that film. Fucking amzing stuff.

How did she find out in the end? I remember being a bit confused when at Xmas she was really upset and pretended she was ok. Something to do with the necklace?

Oh god, I think I might aswell watch Love Actually again just for the sheer lollage at Egg's creepy montage of Keira Knightly's face. I just want to crack up everytime I think of it. GREAT SCENE!

Found it! :D:D I've got tears in my eyes cos i've been trying to stifle my laughter. I'm a bit disturbed that I find this scene so funny. :o

''They're all of me''
''Yeah. Yeah. Yes''

LMAO!:D

It was on the telly recently and I was also lolling at that nasty zip-up cardigan he was wearing :D

The scene in The Sicilian when Salvatore Guiliano (Christopher Lambert) is holed up in an apartment in Palermo, having pissed off the Mafia as well as the politicians and cut himself off from the peasants, and tanks and trucks full of soldiers hunting him down roll past outside. The whole building shakes. A glass of water trembles. Guiliano is a man trapped by his own hubris.

I remembered that scene, and so remembered the film as being rather good. I rewatched it, and it was not rather good.

I dont think the scene would have as much comedic impact if they'd used any other actress cos Keira Knightly has a ridiculous knack for making those stupid pouty faces. It's just too, too much. I'm gonna have to watch it again, lol:D

''I look rather pretty'' pmsl:D

Yeah, I remembered that film as rather good, and then it turned out not to be.

Based on a sort-of-sequel to The Godfather too. In the book, Puzo works Michael Corleone into the real events.

You didn't imagine it, it's in a mauseleom (sp) thingy

The really shit fight in Bridget Jones' Diary where Gaius Baltar runs into the restaurant all excited going: "fight! A real fight!" :D
