Converse what are they like?

I love Converse, have been wearing them for 10 years. I have horrible shape feet, narrow but with bunions :( and I find they fit better than most other brands for some reason.
I wear them into the ground - the pair I have on have got a split in the one sole (makes for a wet foot if it's raining!) but I can't bear to part with them yet!`

I've worn Converse on and off since I was a kid. I currently have a couple of pairs: one pair of high tops and one pair of low tops - both in red. I only wear them in summer when the weather's nice. I wouldn't advise wearing them if you're going to be on your feet for long periods because they aren't too comfy. One wonders why they were favoured by basketball players before the advent of the ergonomically designed trainer. There's no bounce and you need a bit of bounce, if you're playing basketball.

They do wear out pretty quickly if you wear them a lot though.
They've got more bounce than just your bog standard plimpsoles though, there's quite a bit of (early 20th century) technology going on in the soles in proper old style Chucks, and they grip like nothing I've ever worn before. The soles are like they're made of glue so you can run full pelt and stop just as easily :)

I remember those bog standard pumps (they always used to come in one colour: black). I think the military were still using them for PT until relatively recently.

Are they now? See, I didn't know that and it troubles me. But should it? I mean... chances are most of the other shoes I might buy would be produced under crap conditions anyway, and I've no way of knowing which are which.

I was just about to quote that post and reply in exactly the same words. Weird.

I was also going to say, don't buy them if you don't like having cold/bruised feet. I bought a pair once and I've never felt so much pain from wearing shoes.

Apart from the uncomfortable fit, they may be OK in the summer but at this time of year it's really not worth it, especially if you get caught out in an unexpected shower of rain. These things really let the cold in like nobody's business.

Tbh, I never wear them when the weather is bad or when it's cold. Purely summer wear for me. I spent an entire day once walking around in them and my feet ached something terrible that evening.

£13.95 get in!!!

should get them in a few days:)
How are they holding up after fourteen years?

I learned when I was young that converse don't like peat bogs. Wore them when walking through a boggy bit of the Lakes and the fabric had largely dissolved the next day.
