Congratulations AFC Wimbledon

On what basis do you think they are better informed than me William?
Do they know more about the purchase of Kingsmeadow from a dodgy property speculator? Do they know more about Wimbledons debts when daddy kindly stepped in to save them? Do they know my dad better than i do?

Clearly, the answer is yes.

Oh and I don't believe that ugly weasel has fathered anything, no woman would be that desperate.

EPIC FAIL.
David Conn has written about the situation at Enfield.

Not that I know what that has to do with Wimbledon.

Dody property speculator takes over succesful club who have played conference level of football and sells ground...
In Enfields case Lazarou had planning permission for housing...In Kingstonians case they didnt have planning permission for housing and so had to find another way to turn a huge profit.
The FA should have stepped in in both cases...And they should never have allowed Wimbledon to move to Selhurst in the first place.

Kingstonians - successful?

LOL now I know you're full of it. I used to follow them, in the 80's and 90's.

You're having a laugh. I could have played better footy whilst pissed.

Why are you so down on AFC Wimbledon?

Your dad's a somewhat biased source tbf ;)

Pretty much all the other information available both on this thread and elsewhere contradicts your 'position' ....

Oh dear. Another pie in the face. You're getting it in full today, baldwin.

Maybe that's just the way you like it.

You must be some kind of suburban George Best then.

Kingstonian won the isthmian league in the time you supported them and won 2 fa trophy finals at Wembley.
Also had some good cup runs ( Bristol City Southend etc and did up the ground.
And im not that down on AFCW really. But i dont think that what they did in relation to buying Kingstonians ground was at all good....I dont like it when people say oh but Kholsa could have sold it for housing ( when he had no planning permission) I dont like it when people pick up on certain issues and then ignore very similar ones.

In a way i was quite glad to see AFCW promoted...With crowds that high the deserve conference football...But i am also quite glad to see how well MK Dons have done.

Crikey i must have missed that bit.

Nobody else did!

As you appear to be a Kingstonians fan, then I can merely offer you my sympathy. The Kinstonian ground propery deal wasn't exactly the fault of AFC Wimbledon any more than the Glazer purchase of ManU was their fault.

Buying a football club's league position from a pair of foreign speculators as a quick investment whilst lying about the reasons for it are a million fucking miles away from AFCW buying Kingstonians ground.

I've told you this before but as you conveniently ignore it, I'll refresh your memory again: Wimbledon greyhound track had been repeatedly offered to Wimbledon FC at favourable and reasonable terms. The owners of WFC ignored it because there was sweet profits to be made from the move to MK. Indeed, the very chairman of Wimbledon FC became the chairman of a local residents association that opposed WFC's return to Plough Lane.

That is how hard the owners of WFC really tried to give the club a permanent home in Wimbledon. By sabotaging efforts to do so, because more money was to be made at MK.

So please do not give us any bullshit about the move to MK being the only viable solution to fend off bankruptcy and Winkelman coming to the rescue of a dying club because it's a load of bullshit of biblical proportions. If your father (if you're telling the truth about that) does not really know about this, he's even more clueless than I'd thought. But of course Winkelman knew. He was in it just as deeply as the Norwegian thieves he did business with.

This, absolutely.

Let that be an end to it. Some of us were actually there. I suspect Baldwin was not.

i think afcw is a great project .. but like many things with great intentions they took a wrong turn .. they promised to set up a stadium in their home borough but ended up taking over Kingstonians ground .. while it is understandable, it is a bit rich to criticise ( rightly, the franchising and move to MK ) while behaving like this

tbh i think TBs criticisms are too strong as there it would be hard to find a FC out there that is differrent .. but that AFCW claim to be so differrent does stick a bit

and MK did DID steal WFCs place .. simply franchising and moving clubs should be banned .. i have never agreed with this idea that clubs can't survive unless they do a,b,c ( usually involves selling out to a property developer, then selling the ground ) london is litterred with examples .. Walthamstow Ave, Ilford, Leytonstone etc etc .. and afaics it is simple parasites using clubs to try to make money ..

I think you totally underestimate how hard it is to find a home for a football club with a regular 2/3000 support. When AFC started they needed a pitch to play on in very short space of time, they rented Kingstonian from Khosla, then as Khosla realised how successful they were becoming so the rent he was demanding went up and up. AFC then voted to return to Merton and rent from Tooting and Mitcham, this option was taken away when Merton council refused to grant permission for them to play at Tooting, so we were stuck at Kingston. Rather than continue to be endlessly ripped off by Khosla on the rent we voted to buy Kingsmeadow and ensure a stable home for both us and Kingstonian. Coming from a group of supporters who had been shafted and shat on from a great height from the owners of our club, Merton council and every football authority in the land for more than a decade I think this decision was totally justified.

It is still the stated intention of the club to one day return to Merton but its just not that easy when the council don't want you there. Anyway Kingsmeadow is only a few miles from Wimbledon its really not like moving to Milton Keynes at all.

^ This.

Quite a different scenario from the 'ground stealing' or 'dodgy dealings' bullshit tbaldwin would have us believe, is it not?

Naturally there is only one set of people and one club that has stolen another club's league position and have done dodgy dealings.

The thing is when AFCW started they played in a league where most clubs attracted crowds of 50 or so. They could have played at a ground built preety much from scratch. But they wanted a ready made stadium so did the deal with khosla. And that meant that a dodgy property speculator made a huge profit out of non league football.

Where, land is very expensive, we could have purchased Wimbledon Stadium, but the owners wanted something like £16m and that was before you add on the cost of construction. Also the land would have had to been "zoned" for a sporting stadium and residents would want that on their door step. Yes Khosla is a dodgy property speculator and at £3m we paid too much (IMO) for the Kingsmeadow, as we now have had to purchase the perimeter lease as we need to extend the Kingston Road and John Smiths terracing. We, should we progress into the football league hit our "glass ceiling" as the ground capacity can only be increased by, at a guess, to a max of about 6500 and that would mainly be terracing. Should we get into the league we would need to increase the seating capacity and should we progress up the leagues we would require an all seating stadium of 15,000 plus capacity.
