Congestion Charge Go Live

I doubt you've experienced the cost of parking in central London recently then... a day at the NCP in Soho will set you back something like £36.

I suspect if that kind of snobbery were going to happen, it already would have :)

Admittedly I moved from London 2.5 years ago, but the only people I worked with who had cars (and I worked in an office in Trafalgar Square) were the same people who were really concerned about being seen in the right places, in the right clothes, with the right people. Of course this could just be coincidence but they very much turned their noses up at travelling with the "HP" on public transport.

So in my experience (and it is very much my personal experience) people were already showing signs of snobbery.

I'm trying to think of a group of people who collectively fit this description - presumably Labour MP's judging by their fondness for air miles and car usage courtesy of the public purse.

The people I'm talking about were just really pretentious office workers.

Cobbles, whtever gives you the impression that posters on here have any truck (sic) with Labour MPs, let alone John Prescott?
Is that sadly indicative of the political terms of reference on here nowadays?

They are the punters who are peddling this latest stealth tax and therefore guilty of stupendous levels of hypocrisy as their behaviour reeks of "do as I say, don't do as I do".

As one of teh 1.7 Million signatories to the "road pricing - go forth and multiply" petition, as and when I receive my billet doux from Tone, I'll reply and ask him whether or not he's prepared to issue a guarantee (legally eforceable against any one of his&Cherie's properties) that (a) VED will be abolished and (b) Fuel Duty slashed by at least 90% as pre-requisites to the introduction of this road pricing as an alternative to the current pay as you go taxation via Fuel Duty.
