In law. I was referring to the introduction powers allowing the databasing of acquitted persons' biometrics. (In early 2001, not late 2000 as I'd remembered.) The actions of less-that-scrupulous coppers before that date of course notwithstanding.

Not sure what relation Taser guns have to print-scanners? (If they test the guns on their operators like they do in the USA, I can see a potential upside to the weapon's introduction. )

Garfs sillyness predated your accusation that I was the only one talking about "loons" on the thread.

I mentioned it in post 1 because ive had experience of it here and elsewhere, plenty of times. There is a blind spot among many on the "left" and "progressives" regarding just how intentional the stamping on our freedoms and other machinations can be.

Im not denying that, and I appreciate it a great deal. As freespirit says we are both on the same side. What I dont appreciate or understand is how people routinely and insultingly deride those who would wish to discuss how deliberate, co-ordinated and yes, conspiratorial the attack on our freedom is.

Some might not say it matters. I think it does matter because intention behind acts matters and because to automatically suppose that this is all coincidence or just the way capitalism / power operates could lead to complacency.

If it turns out English aint your first language then I certainly will be far more understanding.
