Comics Brittainia - Monday 9pm BBC4

Anyone know if Asterix is going to feature in the series? I know he was a French creation, but he's very popular over here too and the artwork is absolutely stunning.

Watching this prog made me think it was funny how, in the 80s, we as kids totally accepted the anachronisms (teachers in mortar boards, playing 'Cowboy and Indians', being whacked with the slipper) as part of the comics world... I get the impression these days the comics have ditched these.

There was a programme about the Broons before the Comics Brittainia last night. Next week is the one I am looking forward to most - 2000AD and Warrior.

There was an interesting programme about the american board of film ratings on after that contrived to make me go to bed late.

Was there? I wonder if they'll repeat it? I hope so.

Anyone see the last in the (mini) series last night?

Top notch programming Mr BBC, well done.

Yeah I want to check that out. Brian Talbot is a genius, as a reading of Luther Awkright will show.

That Alice in Sunderland thing looks amazing :)
brian talbot is my mate's dad. :)

he wears cowboy boots, y'know.

that was a splendid episode... would've liked to have had alan grant as a subject rather than just a commentator though... tbh, i'd be quite happy having another 5 episodes or so...

Saw the series and remember reading the early comics. The Eagle, Beano, Beezer, etc. The Marvel comics I used to collect until I reached 15. Here in Holland they still read comics well into their 30's. Can't ever grow up, I suspect.
The stuff from the later decades is unknown to me. Now I recognise a lot of names that posters have adopted. Interesting series.

bump - caught half of the last one on BBC2 on Friday -saw the Viz, Alan Moore and a bit about Tank Girl segments
can somebody please get Alan Moore to recite the rest of V for Vendetta & Watchmen over cut up punk/indie tunes - I'd buy them.

I missed all of these and the repeats. If anyone can help me by providing a copy of the episode featuring 2000ad I'd really appreciate it. I'm willing to pay for a copy.
