I know. I've never written United off and indeed won a private £100 bet with a Chelsea fan last year on the League.

sorry but i only see the league cup as an opportunity to give squad players, reserves and youth players a competitive game, i remember when it was a trophy worth winning but even then it was a poor second to the fa cup, i think the attitude towards it is a symptom of the way the game is going these days not just of united supporters,

i thought myself that we would have a good run in it this year on the back of us winning the champions youth tourno in the summer, the football played was a delight to watch and with mostly British players too, so i am not worried either about our strength in depth

On talksport this afternoon they were arguing for ages this afternoon that Coventry hadn't really beaten MU, because it was a weakened team.

Which is rubbish, because it was the team MU thought could beat Coventry, or they'd have put out a stronger team like last year - and they were wrong then too!!!

Absolutely fantastic game to listen to over Internet, I only wish I could have gone. The joy in the voices of the BBC Cov and Warwicks commentators and the constant noise from our lot... apparently the Man U spectators were silent from start to finish.

It doesn't get much better than this for me, I could hardly care less that we beat a weakened side, especially since we fielded Simpson, Best, Turner and gave McNamee his first game of the season. Hardly regulars up till now, any of them. Good call, Pointsman.

I was only a little disappointed by today's Sun headline 'Sud It'. What was wrong with 'Dowie's Double Malt' or 'Fergie's Maltese Cross' or 'Night of Malta' ffs?

At least (AFAIK) they and all the other papers blatted it out mightily. The Guardian, notorious Man U supporters, hid a grudging little article away on page 4 of their sports section.

Did any of you listen to Gaunt on talksport this morning - he was still half-cut from the celebrations - first time I ever heard him sound happy. One of the other presenters said he'd shave his head if CC won [he was so sure MU would knock them out] - he's trying to get out of it now but it's been arranged as the half-time entertainment on the pitch at the Blackpool game next week.
