I'd probably start by having a 5 hour drinking binge in paper cups with some seafood chucked in, a bit of Karaoke for the impressive erm crap and then a stupidly hot baked enchilada.

Well, I watched the omnibus today. Did anyone else catch it? I could not believe the two people sharing the win were the only two who had hired help. One guy went so far as to have the whole thing catered!

Surely that's not a fair competition? I was really upset. The rich guy who can afford to cater and waitress his event gets £500 compensation? Oi!

His pug was cute, though, I'll give him that.

I always think that. And when they buy all the food ready made or get a friend to make it to put in the microwave. I love it though. And the voice over is great. The More 4 omnibus is one of my few pleasures in life.

Surely the point is that you're being judged about how good your dinner party is ratyher than the quality of the food? So if you can provide a better atmosphere or whatever, by getting the caterers in then surely it makes sense?

Yeah, that is a bit off. If I was going to go on the show, I'd make sure my cupboards were well stocked with those realistic rotting corpse heads you can get from the back of Fangoria, or maybe just massive signs saying FUCK OFF YOU NOSY WANKERS.

Wouldn't everyone hire caterers if they knew it was allowed? And if everyone hired caterers, then surely there'd be no point.

I don't get why you'd cater a dinner party for that few under any circumstances unless you're a truly dire cook, which is also entirely beside the point of the whole show!

If it was only about hosting skills, then why not compete on who throws the best wedding or something?

It's usually on Sunday afternoons about 3pm. I think it's on More 4.

When's it on in the week? The Sunday ones are the only ones I ever watch.

Why so confused, it's a plot device... makes it more watchable. The pleasure gained from the programme is voyeuristic, so the producers play on that.

How awful was Pippa on today's omnibus!

She was the most unpleasant thing I have had the misfortune to see or hear in a long time. How nobody knocked her out is a mystery but then again they weren't up to much either. I would like to see her cooked on a barbeque for starving chavs and I'm hoping someone pissed somewhere utterly wrong or at least disrespected her toothbrush.

I didn't enjoy yesterday's that much. There wasn't much competition, just between Paul and Craig, and Paul lost solely because the closeminded crowd disliked seafood.

Some good news!

Channel 4 has commissioned a series of hour-long Come Dine With Me episodes for primetime.

The extended versions will see five amateur chefs compete, and a winner picked, within each episode. Channel 4 has ordered 22 from ITV Productions to be shown later this year.

It has also commissioned 50 more of the regular daytime editions which will be aired over ten weeks with one chef cooking each day.
