Collected new toy today .... :-)

Great - some of the prices are a bit better than I can get locally but a delivery charge would have wiped that out.

Also tried a lid today that I found quite nice & a good fit but I've gone & forgotten the name - Began with V, but not one of the cheap brands (eg v-can).

Having Fizz on the back riding pillion is like not having a pillion at all :D

I've actually forgotten she's on the back and had me knee down on roundabouts with her. Best pillion rider I've ever had on the back. And no Im not sayin that cos we're a couple she really is.

Riders I've had on tend to try and ride, non pillions get it all wrong trying to help and you sort of thrupenny bit round corners. With fizz its like she's not there and its all smooth and perfect.

I know the secret she's in her own little world in her helmet, humming away and pretending to be the king of the whales

she must have nicked all of mrs pingus pillion abilities.. she is the worst pillion ever. even fat bob after an ear canal operation that left him totaly unable to walk in a straight line would make a better pillion

Image is too big, so a link I'm afraid:

Only done a couple of miles from picking it up ... but the grin already is from

:D :D :D :D

Nice.:)

I told my wife I want a motorcycle. She said, not until you get more life insurance...

... but not one of the cheap brands
That reminds me ...

Overheard in the bike shop whilst doing the paperwork: Guy comes in with all his top of the range gear and wanders up to the counter. "What's your cheapest lid, mate?" says he. "Why the cheapest?" says the bloke at the counter, eyeing the expensive stuff trhe bloke is wearing. "It's only for the missus ..."

my rule on helmet buying

I have 1 head and in the scheme of keeping my body working its fairly important.

so I will buy the best helmet I can afford. (that may not be the most expensive btw)

this however is a development that I think might actually be very very good

can see that saving some horrible neck injuries although if taken to its ultimate could have you looking like this after a crash

Was it a Vemar ?

Personally I can only get a decent fit with Arai's everything else feels like it doesn't cover my chin. I was gutted cos I found a really nice Shoe and. . chin out under the bar.

I aint got Jimmy Hill chin just a long head I think.

So I just dont bother now. You only get one head and personally I dont care how much a helmet cost. My last Arai saved my life. Sent it back for x raying and it was absolutely fine. 10 years old now so it was time to trade it in

The fizz in fizzerbird comes from FZR !!

LMAO!

((mrspingu))

No not a Vemar - I've not long binned one of those, it was a good lid. I'll have to try & pop past there on Tues morning to recheck as my mind has gone blank - looked at a lot of lids recently.

Yup, my Arai was the best lid I've ever owned but they are well outside my budget just now.

The cheap one I'm using just now is an excellent fit & there seems a good choice of fits amongst the mid-priced lids & the ratings for the new helmet tests seem heartening - many of them compare well with the more expensive brands.

You tried Caberg?? It seems I have an italian shape head. Never tried on an italian lid that didn't fit.

A lot of lids are of italian origin IME. Although a few brands are now coming out of Portugal.

Not overly impressed with the Cabergs I've tried yet - Ecosse is the only stockist here so they are not that well-priced & there is some stiff competition in that proce range, Airoh & Nitro particularly. Shirlaws are pretty good on them, as well as online.

I had the benefit of working in a bike shop so I tried loads.

Roof are fecking Ace, noisy and again didn't cover my chin but wicked lids I soo want my head to fit in one.
Suomy I had a Scott Russell one of these and luckilly enough it broke 2 weeks after I got it, It was the right szie and after trying on an Arai I just knew my chin didnt have to be exposed to the cold. AFAIK These guys were Frank Thomas led as well as far as I know. Its sort of explains the Toseland Suomy BKS sponsorship thing. FT have also just intorduced a new line. Marushin or something like that. AGain cheap and cheerful and my mates has just started rusting. yep rusting on the bolt bits under the viser mounts. Thats after a couple of months and put me right off ever owning one of them
Shoei, Lush lids but again chinless.
Vemar covered my chin but it was like wearing a gold fish boy. Have you ever seen that boy in the buuble film. That was me in a Vemar lid.
Simpson/Bandits lids etc are mental THEY fit love em to bits BUT not road legal. Well the ones I like aint so cant be arsed with egtting stopped ALL the time.

Umm what else did they do. . . AGV again nothing fitted me. . er. . .
HJC and nitro's they all looked cool but I never liekd the designs so I never bothered. That about all I'ev tried and now I know I'ev gto an Arai head I think I'll have to stick with them.

Oooh I forgot Shark. Fizz has got a shark and very girly it is she loves it and its got nice big button on teh pods for open and closing with gloves on. My only reason for nto liking them and even though they sponsored Foggy. . is . . they're french.:D

AGV is one brand I won't be buying again - I had one of their top of the range ones for a while & within a few months it was cracking all over & then an object thrown-up by another vehicle - but not a particularly hard impact dislodged a tangerine-segment sized lump from the chinpiece. Bin!

:D Fizz is brilliant :D

Aww cheers hon...But I really do sing in my helmet.:o

Seriously though, the bikes that bombscare rides are not really designed for pillion. Haing said that the Hayabusa was a dream to be a pillion though, but the friggin R1 was a nightmare. I needed scaffolding to get on the back the seat was so high! The honda is a lot more comfy but you don't get the views like the R1...tsk...when are they gonna design a decent bike for pillions?

I've had a lot of experience as a pillion from my youth, never did learn to ride.

Oh and the fizzer in fizzerbird is from my pre u75 days and comes from a love of Yamaha FZR that a few lads I used to knock about with many moons ago used to take me for a ride...in more ways than one ;) Gawd that sounds bad...it wasn't really...well not much...back to the boys and their toys...

Fantastic looking bike DB - is yours in those colours? I particularly like the more recent trend for underseat / Bellypan exit 'zorsts.

Must make a point to get to a bike shop / show soon. I keep seeing new bikes that I don't recognise, and thinking wow, that looks exotic, and they turn out to be this years R1, GSXR, Blade etc. fuck, even the ER6F? looks good. My bike is starting to look a bit pipe n slippers these days, but it still gives me an ear to ear grin everyday.

Whats it ride like

Yeah we blokes can do it. . .we just dont make such a big thing about it.

I'm also making a coffe, putting up shelves and ironing a shirt at the same time

Shhh dont tell fizz though

Love the bike, Detective!
Choice of lid at this end is the HJC CL15, have not seen it on your listings DJ, but great little helmet indeed!
Weapon of choice at this end (Southern US) is Honda Blackbird '02, stock apart from shorter front sprocket and KNN fillter.
Gives me the shit eating grin (SEG) every time I swing a leg over it!
No mention of radar detectors in any of these threads it seems, although I thought that the UK was really bad on this issue? (reason I am asking about this is an article that I read in Cycle World about the "European Cannonball Run" with some very interesting Laser info).
Not that I speed of course;)
