Cold bed/Hot bed?

We have an electric blanket coz there's no heating upstairs and I like the window open. I wake up if I get cold so the blanket goes on again for a few minutes.

Window open regardless of temperature outside and a cold bed to get into, a few minutes of shivering, some snuggling and then toasty warm :)

Aren't you supposed to turn the electric blanket off before you go to sleep? I can imagine that mixing the various bodily fluids and the electricity could create some interesting experiences.

You get some which last all night, you just have to turn them to the minimum.

I don't have one now, but if you've no heating in your bedroom it's an absolute must!:D

I do remember getting electric shocks off one as a kid, I hear the modern ones are much safer?!! :hmm::D

windows open no matter the weather. i like a chilly bedroom with air in it, not stuffiness. i hate stuffiness. and won't have the heating on at night, no matter how cold it is.

i'm another one who kicks off the quilt cos my feet get hot. :D

So just to confirm:

If you prefer coolness, say no to heaty things.

If you prefer warmness, then say yes to them.

Yes?

Definitely a cold bedroom and a warm duvet.
The canal froze over last night and there was ice on the inside of the bedroom window this morning
Still nice and warm by the woodburner at the other end of the boat though :)

I never open my window or curtains. I don't know what stuffiness is.

I like a cool (not cold) room, but prefer the bed to be warm before I get in. Can't sleep if it's completely unheated, even if there's a really good duvet.

I wouldn't want a heated blanket, more for the fact I would spend the night awake paranoid about a fire starting than any other concern!

But we do have a duvet each (different tog ratings, I prefer a warmer duvet than he does) and on top a fantastic thermal velvet blanket thingy which is a very much loved and appreciated gift from my MIL, it just seems to perfectly seal all the corners where warmth may potentially escape. We have 3 cats too, one or two of those under the duvet for 15 minutes before bedtime and it's all warmed up ready for you. Tbh though cats are more expensive to run and even less environmentally friendly than a heated blanket :o

I agree with El Jefe about pillows though, I cannot bear a warm pillow, I turn the damn thing over and over and over throughout the night to make sure my head is always in contact with the coolest part of it!

This cool pillows thing seems to be an untapped market.

I'm going to invent a self-cooling pillow and then patent it and sell the rights to the people that make things that you find in the Innovations Catalogue. If such a thing even exists anymore. If not I will sell it on ebay.

i was thinking about this but i can't think of a good way to do it

one of the problems would be noise

i think a nice way to do it would be a liquid filled pillow (like a mini water bed) attached to a flexible hose witch would run to a quiet-ish refridgeration unit that plugs in

a sponge pillow would also be possible i think with a series of capilery tubes woven into a padded sleave... but the problem is still the dumping of excess heat

Frozen peas. I think it needs to involve frozen peas in some form.
I'll say no more until i've got my patent registered.

i somehow don't think your taking this seriously

ahh... it could be feather pillow compatible if it pumped cold air into the middle of the pillow
