Coins from 1840 found in garden!

The oldest coin I have is a 1939 farthing, I think its by far the cutest coin and it has a nice picture of a birdie on it.

I have quite a few foreign coins too, dunno why I just like them, especially ones with flora and fauna on, one's even got a platypus

As my b/f is a brickie and I figured I'd heard it from it, I just checked. He said that yes, and it was normally a coin from the current year.

Used to be an old penny he said, although in later times maybe it was more.

However, he said that it would normally be embedded in the mortar, so I suppose if the wall was ever knocked down it may have fallen out and got bured.

BUT he said they wouldn't put coins in gardens walls as they're not important enough and unlikely to survive long as people will often rebuild or change them. They're more likely to put them into the walls of houses etc. which will survive

unless the Luftwaffe bomb them ;)

It's a wren.

You can buy one for £1.99 on Ebay :D
